Another week, another loss for the Miami Dolphins. The Chicago Bears had a bye week and will have an opportunity to improve as they’re already much better this season, sitting at 2-2. The Bears will take on a decent Washington Commanders team next Monday night on Oct. 13.
But speaking of the Dolphins and Bears, there’s reason to believe that Miami has the best trade asset for Chicago to consider. That player is none other than DeâVon Achane, who many consider one of the top running backs in the NFL.Â
Given the Dolphins have struggled to start the year and are likely heading into another rebuild, moving on from Achane could make some sense, despite him being the best offensive player on the roster.Â
Pro Football Network proposed the following trade idea to send him to Chicago.Â
Proposed Trade: RB DeâVon Achane for RB Roschon Johnson, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round pickÂ
âIt seems like the Chicago Bears will go for broke to make this thing work for Caleb Williams, and you have to respect their commitment to the effort. However, to compete in this division, they must be bold and explore making a big splash to help take their 21st-ranked offense to the next level.Â
âEnter DeâVon Achane. Since he put on a Miami Dolphins uniform, Ahane has been an impactful player. In 32 games played, he has 1,953 yards rushing, 932 yards receiving, and 26 total touchdowns. He has an outstandingly low cap hit of $1.73 million next season and will be eligible for an extension beyond that this season. The Bears need to take a chance here and get Caleb this Swiss Army Knife who makes everyone around himâs job easier, and take the next step as an offense,â Josh Weil wrote.
Dolphins’ Trade Deadline Outlook
There isn’t much the Miami Dolphins will have to consider at the trade deadline, outside of who they want to move on from. Had Tyreek Hill not gotten injured, he wouldâve been a clear trade piece. Perhaps somebody like Jaylen Waddle could be available, among many of their top defensive players.Â
A complete teardown is needed once again in Miami, which is a bit upsetting, but Chicago Bears fans understand that just as well as any Dolphins fan does.Â
Why the Dolphins Should Move On From DeâVon Achane
While trading him might make little to no sense if they’re basing it on talent, it’s essential to remember that Miami will need some assets to help with its rebuild. That’s why Ryan VanHoover of Dolphins Talk believes that Achane could be one of the players traded, noting that if they can get a similar return to what the Carolina Panthers got for Christian McCaffrey, Miami should consider it.Â
âThis one might get fans in an uproar and justifiably so, but if the Dolphins are going to be going into another rebuild, Achane would probably be the player they can get good value for. They wonât ever get what they got in the Laremy Tunsil deal, but the Dolphins should be able to get a 2nd round pick and possibly more. The question is, who would want to make the deal? The Kansas City Chiefs have been mentioned, but they donât give up premium picks typically,â he wrote.
