Bills’ 4-Year Defensive Player Gets Injured At Monday’s Practice

NFL training camp is underway, and for the Buffalo Bills, it’s been a tough two weeks. The Bills had 12 players sit out with some injury during Sunday practice. Some of the players were wide receivers Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Kaden Prather, cornerback Maxwell Hairston, and safeties Cole Bishop and Taylor Rapp.

There are five weeks until Buffalo takes on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, and there’s a chance that a handful of players could miss that game. Shakir has been ruled out for a week to week with an ankle injury. The star receiver may have to miss the first Bills game of the season.

With all the injuries going on, other Bills players must be cautious during practice. Buffalo can’t afford any more players to go down, but on Monday, another player went into the injury tent.

Baylon Spector Seen Getting Injured At Practice

According to reports, linebacker Baylon Spector left practice with an athletic trainer and was seen limping.

There is no status yet on Spector’s injury, but hopefully it’s just a minor thing.
Spector was drafted by the Bills in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Clemson. The 26-year-old linebacker played four seasons with the Tigers, winning the 2018 National Championship. In 53 games at Clemson, Spector recorded nine sacks and 192 combined tackles.

In three seasons in Buffalo, Spector has appeared in 26 games, recording 1.5 sacks and 53 combined tackles. Spector has done a solid job rotating in at linebacker and playing on special teams.

Minor training camp injuries might not seem like a big deal, but that isn’t the case. Even if a player is only out a week or two during the first week of August, it could come back to hurt them early in the regular season.

Football is all about being in shape and getting as many reps as possible. If a player misses a few weeks of practice, it could end up costing them not being in football shape by the first game.

Injuries aren’t the only thing going on with the Bills that could cause players to miss time. On Sunday, Buffalo is starting to see their nightmare come true.

James Cook Could Be Holding Out

Bills running back James Cook, who is entering the final year of his contract, didn’t practice. The 25-year-old running back wasn’t hurt and was just sitting out.

Cook’s looking for a new contract and didn’t hold out, but now that might’ve changed. The former Georgia star didn’t practice again on Monday and was seen in street clothes walking around.

Last week, two players looking for contracts asked to be traded in Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin and Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons.
There is now a chance Cook could follow in the footsteps of both players and ask to be traded.

The Bills needed to figure out what to do with Cook before the season starts, or it could hurt them at some point during the year.
