Bills Player Punished by NFL for Actions in Saints Game

The Buffalo Bills are coming off a lopsided win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, September 28, which closed out with a 31-19 victory for Buffalo. While it wasn’t a surprise that the Bills beat the struggling Saints, every single game matters, and it’s helped the Bills secure a 4-0 record to start off the 2025-26 season.

Every week, the NFL penalizes some players for actions taking during the previous week’s games. “To protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity, the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on a set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures,” the NFL states. The NFL also updates the roster every Saturday afternoon with offenses from the previous week.

Well, the NFL’s Week 4 report is up, and one Buffalo Bills player has been hit with some disciplinary actions from the NFL for his actions in the Saints game. He’s going to pay a hefty price for it, too.

Buffalo Bills Player Gets in Trouble With the NFL

The NFL explains of their gameday accountability process that “players are notified of violations and may appeal any ruling. Cases are heard by appeals officers and former NFL players, Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster or Jordy Nelson, who are jointly appointed and paid by the NFL/NFLPA.” Then, they say that “the decisions made are final and binding.”

On Saturday, October 4, the NFL announced that it’s fining Bills linebacker Dorian Williams for “unnecessary roughness,” with the description being a “blindside block.” The amount of the fine is $7,989. Sure, that doesn’t seem like much for players who make millions, but it still makes a statement.

The funds will go to a good cause, though. The NFL says that the money raised from these fines are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to “support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.”

One Saints player also showed up on the penalties tally. Nephi Sewell was fined $12,172 for “roughing the kicker.”

Buffalo Bills Take on the New England Patriots

Next up, the Buffalo Bills are heading into a game against the New England Patriots on Sunday evening, October 5. According to ESPN Research, Bills quarterback Josh Allen has “45 career games with both a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, tied with Cam Newton for the most by any player in NFL history.

ESPN analytics writer Seth Walder makes a bold prediction for the game, saying, “Patriots rookie RB TreVeyon Henderson will record 64 or more rushing yards, doubling his current career high. Bills opponents have recorded a minus-14% pass rate over expectation this season, by far the lowest in the league. The Bills‘ defense induces opponents’ runs.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss also notes that “an unexpected injury issue popped up with one of the Patriots‘ best players, as starting DT Milton Williams was added to the injury report Wednesday as a limited participant because of his ankle.

The Buffalo Bills are favored to take this game, but they still need to be on point. We know Allen and the crew won’t get lazy.
