Bills Trade Proposal Lands $110 Million Bears Star to Help Josh Allen

One of the Buffalo Bills‘ top priorities this offseason has to be finding a top-tier wide receiver for Josh Allen.

There have been several rumors suggesting that the Bills might pursue a trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, but it’s not guaranteed to happen. If the Bills can’t secure Brown, they may explore other trade options that could be more budget-friendly, and it seems there are a few players in mind that fit the bill.

Trade Proposal for Bills to Land DJ Moore

One player the Bills could consider trading for is the Chicago Bears‘ wide receiver DJ Moore. The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia proposed a trade scenario that would send Moore to the Bills.

The trade proposal would send Moore to Buffalo in exchange for the No. 91 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and a sixth-round pick in 2027.

“Although the third-round pick could turn into a long-term player, it is unlikely the Bills will be able to get an instant impact player who fits like Moore at that spot,” Buscaglia wrote on Monday. They must have the cap space to cover his entire cap hit, which is $24.5 million, and they do in this scenario. The Bills would then do a simple restructure to bring down his 2026 cap hit to $7.86 million without adding any void years. They would still have ample opportunities to get out of the contract as is, each year, without adding more dead cap to that individual year than what his contract currently shows.”

Moore has been in the NFL since 2018, starting his career with the Carolina Panthers before joining the Bears for the past three seasons. Last year, he recorded 682 receiving yards and six touchdowns over 17 games, which might not seem like an impressive stat line at first glance. However, the Bears have a strong roster with several talented players around him, which may have impacted some of his overall statistics.

Moore Could Bring Speed to Buffalo

Buscaglia does think Moore could bring speed and separation to the Bills.

“Moore has the speed and separation the Bills have lacked the last two seasons, and his skills would complement what the Bills have in-house with Khalil Shakir,” Buscaglia added. “His addition would also allow for one of Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman or Tyrell Shavers to be the X receiver in 2026. Moore is an excellent route runner who would thrive with an on-time thrower like Josh Allen.

“Additionally, Moore will be entering his age-29 season, which syncs up well with Allen’s timeline as he turns 30 this offseason. Because of his age and a disappointing 2025 season, Moore’s acquisition cost likely will not be exorbitant. The Bills likely won’t need to move more than a mid-round pick. On top of that, Beane has a history of making trades with Bears general manager Ryan Poles, and the Bills had Moore in for a pre-draft visit in 2018. It could be an intriguing buy-low opportunity.”

Moore is currently in the midst of a four-year, $110 million contract that runs through 2030, so if the Bills decide to acquire him, they would be getting him for quite some time.
