The Buffalo Bills made a statement with their 28-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9.
For the first time since last season, Mahomes failed to record a rushing or passing touchdown. As for Bills quarterback Josh Allen, he made NFL history, breaking the record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (78) in the second quarter.
Allen recorded his 79th career rushing score in the second half. He finished the game completing 23-of-26 passes for 273 yards and one touchdown, along with six carries for 19 yards and two scores.
“We feel like this is more of who we are,” Allen told reporters.
While it’s promising to see Buffalo snag two consecutive wins after suffering two straight losses before the bye, the roster is far from firing on all cylinders. Allen could use a deep threat wide receiver, and there are multiple holes on defense following a slew of injuries.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane has until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 4, to make a move, and it seems he’s preparing to pull the trigger on something.
The Bills Restructured Taron Johnson’s Contract, Clearing an Extra $1.75 Million in Cap Space

ESPN’s Field Yates posted on Monday, “The Bills restructured the contract of CB Taron Johnson by converting base salary into a signing bonus, a move that created an extra $1.75M in salary cap space.”
The move immediately turned some heads, as the Bills now have approximately $3.4 million in cap space available. The big question remains: What does Beane plan to do with the extra cash?
The Bills lost defensive end Michael Hoecht to a season-ending Achilles tear against the Chiefs. Star defensive tackle Ed Oliver is out indefinitely after suffering a torn bicep last week. Buffalo could also use reinforcements at safety, cornerback, and edge rusher.
The Bills Called About Saints’ Chris Olave, Jakobi Meyers — In the Market For a New WR

While Allen and Co. did enough to get a win against a tough Chiefs defense, they’re still lacking in the receiver department.
The Athletic’s Joe Buscaglia noted, “Just as much as it has been a need over the past few games, for the Bills to become the fully functional two-dimensional offense they covet, another piece is necessary to the boundary receiver group — namely, someone who can help install a bit more of a threat to push in the intermediate and deep levels. It wouldn’t be a surprise if that’s a focal point for Beane before Tuesday’s trade deadline.”
Buscaglia’s comments come after The Athletic’s Dianna Russini noted the Bills called about New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave and Las Vegas Raiders veteran Jakobi Meyers.
Buffalo could go all in to make a move for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. However, ESPN reported that while the Dolphins are listening to offers, it’s “highly unlikely” they move on from Waddle.
