Billy Vunipola will face no further action from his club Saracens following an incident in Mallorca where he was tasered by police.

The 31-year-old was tasered twice by local police at bar in Palma in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was later taken to hospital and arrested having been accused of assaulting a police officer during the confrontation.

At a trial later on Sunday, the England international was given a four-month suspended prison sentence and paid a fine of €240 (£205). He was also ordered to pay €500 (£427) in compensation to the person he injured.

Vunipola, who has been capped 75 times for England, apologised for what he described as an ‘unfortunate misunderstanding’, also insisting there was ‘no violence’ in the incident.

After an internal investigation, Saracens announced there will be no further action against the no8 who has been warned over his future conduct.

‘Saracens can confirm that after an internal investigation, Billy Vunipola will face no further action from the club,’ the statement posted on social media read.

‘We condemn the behaviour and have warned Billy about his future conduct.

‘We now look forward to the remainder of the Gallagher Premiership season, and consider this case closed.’
