Bo Nix Sets Fitting Tone as Broncos Draw Attention From Vegas

Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos know their job is far from done, and the second-year QB is not shy about making that clear.

Nix and the Broncos moved to 10-2 on the season, winning their ninth straight game as they defeated the Washington Commanders. The win further solidified the Broncos’ hold on not just the AFC West, but the conference as a whole, pending the results of “Monday Night Football.”

Yet and still, Nix set the tone for the Broncos the rest of the way.

Bo Nix Leans Into Super Bowl Broncos’ Super Bowl Goal

Nix and the Broncos entered this season speaking candidly about their goal of reaching the Super Bowl. And while they have shown the proper respect to their opponents throughout the week, that ultimate goal has not changed.

The Broncos have made the Super Bowl each of the last four times they went 10-2 or better to start a season, and they won it three of those four instances. Nix and the Broncos are undaunted.

If anything, they are emboldened by their plan coming to fruition.

“There’s no added pressure. When we started this season – every season starts with a goal, and our goal is to make a Super Bowl run. And not just make it. We just want to win the whole thing,” Nix told reporters on November 30.

“We’re 10-2. We won 10 games last year. And that was at the end of the season, and we’re not at the end. So, we’ve shown great improvement. But we definitely don’t want to stop here. This is not where we wanted to be. We didn’t want to be 10-2. We didn’t want to get to December and be 10-2. That wasn’t our goal. Our goal is to make a deep playoff run, and we’re clearly not there yet. We haven’t even had time to get there yet. So we’re going to continue to battle, continue to fight.”

In that, Nix said the “funny thing about stats” is that a new one is highlighted daily, badded that “they’re just a stat” and “have nothing to do with the football game.”

He urged the team to put “the distractions, all the noise, everything aside” and “play as one.”

The Broncos have been firmly behind Nix since he was drafted, and he has embraced that leadership role in kind. Fittingly, Nix touted the tight-knit nature of the current Broncos, who are 8-2 in one-score games after being 1-6 in such contests last season.

“We have a great mindset in the locker room,” Nix said. “Guys are really fighting and battling for each other. We love one another, and it’s really an honor to be the quarterback of this team. I played on a lot of close football teams, but this is up there with the best of them. So, love our guys, love our coaches, and we’re just going to continue to play as hard as we can.”

Up next, Nix and the Broncos will travel to face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14.

Nix and the Broncos have already beaten the Raiders once, defeating them on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 10.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton touted Nix’s clutch play during “critical moments” in the game, including his touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton before halftime and a 41-yarder to Evan Engram that set up RJ Harvey’s game-winning touchdown in overtime.

Payton also once again acknowledged that the team is not only pushing for the playoffs, but fancies itself as being on the path to the Super Bowl.

Las Vegas agrees, with the Vikings now having the best odds to make the Super Bowl in the AFC.

FanDuel Sportsbook lists five teams ahead of the Broncos (+1200) to win the Super Bowl as of December 1. One, the Buffalo Bills, is in the AFC. Even still, the sportsbook also gave the Broncos the best odds to win the conference at +450.

That is notable, with the New England Patriots capable of leapfrogging the Broncos for the No. 1 seed with a win over the New York Giants in Week 13.
