The Atlanta Braves are entering a very important offseason. One of the team’s biggest free agent decisions will be regarding Raisel Iglesias. Iglesias really performed well in the second half of last season and will certainly ink at least a one-year deal somewhere. However, will it be the Braves?
That part is unclear at this moment, but one thing is known. Atlanta has to address its bullpen if it wishes to return to the MLB playoffs. A recent prediction has the Braves landing former Yankees‘ reliever All-Star Devin Williams. His tenure with New York didn’t go so smoothly, but he’s still one of the top relievers on the market.

Braves Predicted to Sign Devin Williams in Free Agency
Should the Atlanta Braves go after Devin Williams in free agency?
In a recent Bleacher Report prediction by writer Tim Kelly, the Braves are predicted to sign two-time All-Star reliever Devin Williams to a one-year, $13 million deal:
“Contract Prediction: One year, $13 million”
“Team Prediction: Braves”
While Williams’ tenure with the Yankees didn’t really go as planned, Kelly believes that he has the potential to bounce back:
“Devin Williams’ contract year didn’t go well, and 2025 will turn out to be his lone season with the Yankees. Relievers, though, are such a year-to-year proposition. Plenty of teams will be happy to bet on a bounce-back season from Williams, who seemed on a Hall of Fame trajectory when he posted a 1.89 ERA between 2019 and 2023.”

In 2025, Devin Williams had a 4.79 ERA in 62 innings and lost the Yankees closer position multiple times throughout the season.
However, he is a two-time All-Star reliever who posted a sub-2.50 ERA in five straight seasons.

Braves Offseason Outlook
The Braves have a unique offseason outlook. They have several very reliable starting pitchers when healthy, but that has been the issue the last two seasons.
If the Braves let Raisel Iglesias walk in free agency, that will mean the bullpen need is even stronger. Relievers in the past have come to Atlanta to retool their career, and have had success doing so.
Many insiders and analysts who cover the Braves believe they need to address the pitching staff by adding another depth starter or two and a reliever like Williams with proven stuff. Atlanta doesn’t need to break the bank, but adding production comes at a cost.
If Atlanta doesn’t sign Williams, other big spenders likely won’t hesitate to open up the checkbook for him.
Other team needs include a designated hitter if Marcell Ozuna walks in free agency and a middle infielder.
