The Atlanta Braves might be a team to consider making a trade for an outfielder in due time. Atlanta is off to a solid 6-5 start this season, but there’s reason to believe the Braves could be big players in the external market.
Would the struggling Boston Red Sox make a trade for their All-Star caliber outfielder Jarren Duran, and what is a trade package that could complete a deal?
A recent MLB mock trade idea by Thomas Carelli of SI.com features the Braves linking with the Red Sox to land Duran, and in return, Atlanta would have to offload two prospects.

With the Red Sox struggling to start the season, there’s a chance they might be more inclined to trade away Jarren Duran.
Per Carelli, Duran does all the little things right, which highlights why Jarren Duran is a popular trade candidate:
“The Braves are in win-now mode, and so, they may splash on a player like Duran. Duran has elite baserunning speed, ranking in the top 5% of baserunners in pure speed. He stole 24 bases in 2025 and 34 in 2024. To have another player who can get on base and do something with it goes a long way for a contender. The small things matter most.”
Carelli doesn’t put a name to the two prospects the Braves would have to give up in his mock trade idea, but a good package could include two infielders, Alex Lodise and Nacho Alvarez Jr.

Who Says No to This Deal?
Undoubtedly, the Boston Red Sox would shut this trade idea down. Jarren Duran has been an above-average hitter for several years now and is still under team control.
Despite the logjam in the Red Sox outfield, Duran’s job is pretty much safe, and while there’s been a lot of discourse about either Duran, Masataka Yoshida, or Wilyer Abreu being trading, Boston might want to give it more than 11 games to decide what direction they want to take for the remainder of the season.
As for the Braves, their outfield is also pretty much complete, although the suspension of Jurickson Profar is likely driving these trade rumors of Atlanta trying to acquire another outfielder.
Instead, Atlanta should consider heading to the external market for another reason: to make the pitching staff better.
Again, the Braves are off to a solid start this season, but there are still question marks in the starting rotation, and if Chris Sale doesn’t have a CY Young caliber season, the Braves could be in trouble come June and July.
