The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a disappointing loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night at Ford Field, which will likely significantly hurt America’s Team’s chance of clinching a spot in the NFL playoffs.
Although the loss to the Lions was a devastating blow to the Cowboys’ chances of making the playoffs, the one storyline for Dallas that dominated the headlines was the performance and effort of star wide receiver George Pickens during the matchup against the Lions.

After the loss to the Lions, former NFL star cornerback Richard Sherman, currently employed as one of the Amazon Prime crew, didn’t hold back on his criticism of Pickens, who he believed should’ve stepped up with CeeDee Lamb going down during the game.
That criticism didn’t sit well with Pickens, who took to social media to respond to Sherman, but then deleted his comments. However, the damage was already done. The Cowboys’ wideout’s actions sparked the following response from head coach Brian Schottenheimer, via Todd Archer of ESPN.
“I’m aware of what was supposedly put out there,” Schottenheimer said. “I’ve not talked to him yet. I understand it’s been taken down, but I will be talking to him, just checking on him. Again, this is unfortunately things that we deal with in this profession. But I have not spoken to him, but I will.”
Even though Pickens has been having an incredible season with the Cowboys, it’s not a great look for the rising star to react the way he did. However, Schottenheimer made it clear that it wasn’t just Pickens’ effort that cost them the game.
“I don’t think any of us coached or played well enough,” Schottenheimer said. “All in all, I’m going to judge George on his body of work, man. His body of work, he’s shown what an elite player he is and what a game changer that he is. I have no question. We were talking about CeeDee a couple weeks ago, right. CeeDee was coming off a tough game [three drops], [against] Philadelphia, I guess, maybe. And you look at CeeDee and the way he performed last night, just incredible. He was on pace for probably over 200 yards before he had to go out with the concussion.”
Cowboys Star CeeDee Lamb’s Crucial Update

With Lamb going down the way he did, the Cowboys’ primary concern moving forward is the status of their star wide receiver, especially with the team now having a slim chance of making the NFL playoffs.
Schottenheimer gave an update on Lamb’s status after the loss to the Lions.
“He had a good day,” Schottenheimer said of Lamb, “but he has to go through all the checks and balances of all that stuff. I do think the extra couple of days should hopefully help him.”
Fortunately for Dallas and Lamb, the team won’t have to get back to work until Dec. 14, when they take on the Minnesota Vikings at AT&T Stadium, which might be enough time for the star wideout to get healthy and ready to get back on the field.
