Brittany Mahomes Gives Rare Look at Patrick Mahomes’ Injury Post-Surgery

Brittany Mahomes shared a rare and emotional glimpse into her family’s life as Patrick Mahomes begins his long recovery from season-ending knee surgery. The New Year’s Eve photo, posted by Brittany, shows the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback standing in their driveway alongside his wife and their three children, Sterling, Bronze, and baby Golden, as the kids hold sparklers to ring in the new year.

Patrick Mahomes Seen With Family After Season-Ending Injury

The photo was shared just weeks after the Chiefs QB1 suffered a torn ACL and LCL in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The injury happened on the final drive as the Chiefs tried to keep their playoff hopes alive. Kansas City lost the game, and without their starting quarterback, the team was eliminated from postseason contention.

The injury brought an unusual end to the 2025 season that began with Super Bowl expectations. The Chiefs had appeared in three straight Super Bowls and won two of them. Instead of preparing for another playoff run, Patrick is focused on a months-long rehabilitation process.

In the New Year’s Eve picture Brittany shared on her Instagram stories, Patrick is seen wearing a large knee brace and using crutches, standing close to Brittany as their children celebrate beside them.

Fans immediately reacted with messages of support and encouragement.

“I love that even though this, he’s out there just being a dad, sending him so much healing,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Prayers up for QB1! He does great things for KC and is just an all-around good person.” Others focused on the small but reassuring details, with one comment reading, “It’s good to see him standing, though.”

Brittany also shared a picture of the family celebrating Christmas together in matching pajamas, again with Patrick’s brace visible.

Andy Reid Shares Update on Mahomes’ Rehab Progress

While the image shows a personal side of Patrick’s recovery, the work behind the scenes is already underway. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently confirmed that Mahomes is spending significant time focused on rehabilitation.

“He’s in the building working and doing his rehab, spending a lot of hours doing it,” Reid said. “He’s really attacked that and will continue to do that, he’s around and sees the guys, but most of his time is being spent rehabbing.”

A multi-ligament knee injury typically carries a recovery timeline of nine to 12 months, placing Mahomes in a race against time to be ready for the Chiefs’ Week 1 game of the 2026 season. Reid’s comments suggest the three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback is approaching rehab with the same intensity that has defined his career.

Patrick and his family made a public return to Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day, watching from a suite as the Chiefs faced the Denver Broncos. The 20-13 loss officially eliminated Kansas City from playoff contention. Patrick appeared subdued while cheering on his teammates during the game, a visible reminder of how abruptly the season had ended.

The Chiefs finish off their 2025 season with a match-up against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, January 4. Will this be Travis Kelce’s final game in the NFL? Stay tuned as retirement rumors continue to gain steam.
