The Denver Broncos didn’t exactly dominate the Tennessee Titans like they were expected to in Week 1, but they still managed to pick up a 20-12 victory when all was said and done. In Week 2, it looks like they are going to have a more difficult challenge in front of them, as they will be squaring off against an Indianapolis Colts team that throttled the Miami Dolphins in their season-opener.
Even though this is only their second game of the season, the Broncos are a bit beat up heading into this game. With tight end Nate Adkins being ruled out for this game, Denver was forced to make a roster move involving fullback Adam Prentice for the second straight week that will surely catch fans’ attention.
Broncos Elevate Fullback Adam Prentice to Active Squad
Adkins is a versatile tight end who can operate as a blocker for Denver, while also sneaking out every once in a while to make a play as a receiver. However, he’s been dealing with an ankle injury to begin the new season, and after he was unable to play in Week 1, he’s also been ruled out for the team’s Week 2 clash against the Colts.
Prentice was elevated from the practice squad in Week 1 to fill in for Adkins, and he will be doing so again in Week 2. After spending the first four seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints, Prentice latched on with Denver for the 2025 campaign, and while he’s been biding his time on the practice squad, he will end up playing in both of their first two games.
Working primarily as a blocker on offense, while also earning snaps on special teams, Prentice did manage to catch one pass for four yards from quarterback Bo Nix against the Titans. With the Colts featuring a fierce pass rush, Prentice could be called upon for an even bigger role in Week 2 now that he’s back on Denver’s active roster.
“Denver elevated fullback Adam Prentice and linebacker Garret Wallow from the practice squad to the active roster for a Week 2 game, the team announced,” Aric DiLalla wrote on the Broncos’ official website. “Prentice was also elevated in Week 1 and played 15 snaps on offense. The fifth-year player caught one pass for four yards in the season-opening win. He also played eight snaps on special teams for the Broncos.”

Adkins’ absence isn’t the end of the world for the Broncos, especially with Prentice being able to fill in, but the team would obviously rather have him on the field. It’s still early in the season, though, so it isn’t necessarily surprising to see Denver operating with caution when it comes to his lingering ankle injury.
The Broncos’ upcoming clash with the Colts is one of the more intriguing Week 2 matchups, as Denver didn’t look great in Week 1, while Indianapolis did. Will the Broncos be able to bounce back, or will the Colts prove they are for real after walloping the Dolphins to open their season? Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET, and while this is only Denver’s second game, it’s clear that they could use a reassuring victory after struggling against Tennessee.
