Broncos Hope ‘Primetime Bo’ Shows Up Against Commanders

There’s something about playing in front of a national television audience that seems to trigger Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix — in the best way possible.

While Broncos fans might wish Nix would play like that every game, how he plays when the bright lights shine can’t be denied. As the Broncos continue to win, they’re also only going to play in more of those types of games.

DNVR’s Zac Stevens thought up an incredible nickname for Nix when he gets on the big stage: Primetime Bo.

Nix gets another chance to break out his alter ego when the Broncos, winners of 8 consecutive games, face the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football in Week 13.

“Bo Nix has thrown at least 1 TD in four-straight primetime games,” Stevens wrote on his official X account on Sunday, November 30. “Bo also has 250+ pass yards in 3 of his 4 past primetime games. Primetime Bo will have another opportunity tonight.”

The Broncos don’t have another primetime game until Week 17, and that one will be a doozy — a road game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nix’s Game Gets Dissected Every Single Week

While the Broncos have reeled off win after win, no player has gotten less of the credit and more of the blame than Nix, who has seen his every decision on the field picked over — more evidence of the growing spotlight his team plays under.

At times, Nix has seemed totally lost and people can’t believe he’s an NFL quarterback.

At other times, like in a history-making comeback win over the New York Giants inWeek 7, Nix does things no quarterback in NFL history has done. In that case, he became the first NFL quarterback to throw for 2 touchdowns and run for 2 touchdowns in a single quarter.

Don’t expect the debate over Nix to slow down anytime soon.

The Athletic’s Mike Sando put Nix in the category of “Too early to say, but there’s been good with the bad” in his NFL QB tiers alongside Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.

“The Broncos have won seven consecutive games with a mixture of defense and fourth-quarter heroics from Nix and the offense,” Sando wrote on November 13.”It’s an unsustainable formula that is temporarily tabling more consequential discussions regarding Nix’s trajectory. The quarterback’s year-over-year efficiency has declined by almost every measure except for sack rate, which was already low. It’s looking like next season will be defining for Nix’s trajectory with the Broncos.”

Broncos Have Real Chance to Win Out

There’s a real chance the Broncos could win out and finish the season with a 15-2 record.

Each of the 2 previous seasons the Broncos finished with 2 losses in the regular season they made it to the Super Bowl.

In 1977, when the NFL had a 14-game regular season schedule, the Broncos went 12-2 and lost to the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl XII.

In 1998, when the NFL had a 16-game regular season schedule, the Broncos went 14-2 and defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII — their second consecutive Super Bowl win.
