Broncos Starter Rips Into Chiefs in Blunt, Profanity-Filled Message

The Kansas City Chiefs received some bulletin board material for next year courtesy of Denver Broncos pass rusher Jonathon Cooper, as his social media post made news during Week 17.

“[Expletive] the Chiefs,” Cooper wrote in an X post that has since been deleted. In a follow-up post, Cooper added: “[Expletive] made [expletive] pansies.”

NFL insider Ari Meirov shared the full screenshots of the posts on X before they were taken down.

This all came in the early hours of December 28, just after midnight, as the Broncos officially clinched the AFC West for the first time since 2015.

It’s clear that Denver is officially feeling themselves with KC out of the picture in 2025. The Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers will represent the AFC West in this season’s NFL playoff bracket, with Denver currently leading the race for the AFC’s No. 1 seed.

Chiefs Will Have to Wait to Get Revenge on Broncos

Unfortunately, it’s a long time before the Chiefs can get their revenge. Kansas City has been dominating the Broncos — and this entire AFC West division — for the entirety of Patrick Mahomes’ career and then some, but they went 0-2 against Denver this year.

Realistically, it was only a matter of time before a division rival would overtake the Chiefs for a season. The NFL is a league with rules based on parity, and it’s rare that a franchise achieves the level of sustained success that Kansas City has over the past decade.

2025 was a year when just about everything went wrong for KC. Major injuries, suspensions, tight one-score losses, and even odd off-the-field situations, like in the case of left tackle Josh Simmons missing multiple games due to a family emergency.

In the NFL, you try to prepare for as much as you can, but some obstacles are just too much to overcome.

That’s the best way to sum up the Chiefs’ 2025 campaign. It was the perfect storm of adversity, and in the end, Kansas City wasn’t able to account for it all.

Chiefs’ Fresh Start Should Include Pleasant Schedule News in 2026

The only good thing about the Chiefs having a down year is how it could help them in 2026. There aren’t too many games on the schedule that are impacted by the previous season, but a few are.

The Chiefs will play all of the AFC West teams twice, as always. Then they’ll play one other AFC division in its entirety, and they’ll also play one full NFC division.

From there, Kansas City should have the advantage. They would then play each fellow third-place team from each of the two AFC divisions that they aren’t matched up with, and because of the extra week, they’ll also play one third-place team from one of the other three NFC divisions.

So, looking at the current 2025 standings, the Chiefs would automatically be matched up with teams like the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, and Miami Dolphins next year, no matter which division the AFC West faces.

The NFC portion of their schedule is a little more unclear at this time.

That slight schedule boost, not to mention the higher draft pick, should all aid Kansas City in putting together a bounce-back season. And on the flip side, the Broncos will have to battle all of the first-place teams in the AFC in 2026, making their road to another division crown much more challenging next year.
