Browns Make Announcement on Quinshon Judkins Immediately After Injury

The Cleveland Browns wasted no time making an announcement on Quinshon Judkins’ status following a serious injury against the Buffalo Bills.

Judkins went down with a leg injury at the end of the first half that required him to be carted off the field in an air cast. The CBS broadcast declined to show a replay of the injury because of how it looked. The Browns immediately ruled Judkins out for the remainder of the game.

“Injury Update,” the team wrote on X. “RB Quinshon Judkins is out with a leg injury.”

Judging by how the injury looked, Judkins will likely miss the rest of his rookie season. Depending on the diagnosis, it could also put the start of next season at risk. Judkins entered Sunday with 805 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. His 222 carries ranked No. 10 in the league. He missed the team’s opener after missing training camp and the preseason.

Browns Shorthanded at Running Back After Judkins Injury

The Browns were already missing Judkins’ fellow rookie running back Dylan Sampson, who has missed the past two games with hand and calf injuries. The Browns selected Judkins in the second round and Sampson in the fourth round to form their backfield of the future. Veteran Jerome Ford is also out for the season.

With Judkins, Ford and Sampson sidelined, the Browns are relying on Trayveon Williams and Raheim “Rocket” Sanders to carry their backfield. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke on Sanders’ ability prior to Sunday’s game.

“We trust Rocket, he’s ready to roll,” Stefanski said. “Obviously, he was ready to go last week. I don’t think we possessed the ball enough on offense to really get a true look at him. So, if you have a series where you can go rotate a guy in, if there’s a longer series where he can go in, I do anticipate him playing. And when he’s in there, we trust him. He knows what to do, he’s been with us really all season.”

Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Returns After Injury

Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders suffered an injury scare of his own against the Bills. He came away from a play with a bloodied pinky finger that looked like it had been chewed up pretty well.

Sanders immediately ran to the locker room with trainers but didn’t miss a series. Backup quarterback Dillon Gabriel entered for a single play and was sacked. Sanders returned to the game wearing a wrap on his pinky finger.

Sanders cannot afford to miss any time. He’s using the final three games to audition for a long-term role in Cleveland as their quarterback of the future.

“It’s like this is the foundation. This is where I’m building from, where I’m understanding different things,” Sanders said this week. “This is where everything’s translating for me. So I’m excited about it. I’m extremely excited about it because I know we’re going to get ‘em. I know we’re going to get ‘em eventually.”

The Browns and Sanders will wrap up the season with games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals.
