Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Responds to Message From Donald Trump

Among those who celebrated Shedeur Sanders’ first victory with the Cleveland Browns was President Donald Trump.

Sanders passed for 209 yards with a touchdown and an interception in his debut. After the win, Trump took to social media with a message on the Browns’ quarterback.

“Shedeur Sanders was GREAT,” Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday. “Wins first game, career start, as a pro (for Cleveland). Great genes. I TOLD YOU SO!”

Trump has been a vocal supporter of Sanders. When the Colorado quarterback slipped in the draft, Trump sounded off on owners for not selecting him.

“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?” Trump wrote on April 25. “Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart!”

Sanders responded to the president’s comments this week ahead of his second start, thanking him for the support.

“Yeah, he definitely been a supporter, for a minute,” Sanders said. “So, I’m just thankful for him for even taking time out of his day to be able to speak out and support.”

Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Draws ‘Powerful’ Praise

Shedeur-mania is in full effect after he picked up a win in his debut. And ESPN personality Kendrick Perkins didn’t hold back in his praise of the Browns’ quarterback.

“Shedeur Sanders is the most powerful Black man since 2009. You know what happened in 2009? That’s when President Obama got elected into office. He’s the most powerful Black man since 2009,” Perkins said. “When Shedeur Sanders is on the field, and when I say powerful, powerful because there’s two sides of it,” Perkins said. “He’s bringing the whole Black community together. I ain’t run across one Black person that done said one bad thing about Shedeur. Not one. He has the balance of I’m arrogant, but I’m humble, too. He’s having fun with the (expletive). And he says, y’all want me to fail, it ain’t gonna happen.”

It’s quite the statement from Perkins but the momentum from the fan base behind Sanders is undeniable.

Shedeur Sanders Not ‘Comfortable’ After First Start

Sanders earned the right to remain the starter despite Dillon Gabriel’s return from a concussion. But he’s far from “comfortable” as he looks to keep the Browns in the win column against a tough opponent in the San Francisco 49ers, who come to town on Sunday.

“I’m definitely not comfortable though, so that’s first and foremost that I have another opportunity to go out there,” Sanders said. “But in life, you’ve got to understand how quickly things come or how long it comes. It could be taken at any point in time. So I’m never comfortable in a situation I’m in. I always want to exceed expectations and I always want to grow. Each and every week, I want to put a better product of myself, be a better version of myself for the team to be out there.”

Sanders and the Browns are a 6.5-point home underdog for the matchup.
