Browns’ Shedeur Sanders Doesn’t Hold Back After Beating Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders couldn’t take advantage of facing a rookie quarterback in Shedeur Sanders as they lost 24-10 to the Cleveland Browns on November 23 at Allegiant Stadium.

With a fantastic defense, all the Browns needed from Sanders was to make plays when needed and not turn the ball over, which he did. The Cleveland offense racked up 14 points in the first quarter and 10 points in the fourth on the Raiders’ defense to secure the win.

Moreover, 24 points were all the Browns needed as the defense recorded 10 sacks against Las Vegas. After the win, Sanders spoke to CBS Sports and shared his thoughts on his first victory as a starter in the NFL.

“I think I showed a couple of great pieces,” Sanders said postgame. “It’s some things I wish I could get back, but man, a win is crazy. It’s amazing. Off of one week of practice, you know what I mean? This one week of practice. Imagine what a full offseason looked like. It get dangerous. But it’s just one week of practice. So I’m just truly thankful that everything happened.”

Shedeur Sanders Looked Comfortable Against the Raiders

Moreover, Sanders noted that he didn’t feel any pressure in this game, and it doesn’t appear that the Raiders’ defense made him uncomfortable, as the Browns quarterback had only one interception and was sacked once.

“Like I said, before going into the game, I didn’t feel [any] nerves,” Sanders added. “I didn’t feel anything. I did as much work as I can during the week, so on Sundays, it’ll be fun. That’s why I was just excited. I love how the offensive line embraced me when I came in that role, and they understood I’m nothing but business.

“I’m just thankful that I was able to out here. I’m thankful to get the win for the Browns. My pop’s here, my mom’s here, all my people here. You see all them 12 jerseys out there? It’s amazing. I’m just thankful.”

The Raiders’ Season Continues to Be a Nightmare

Pete Carroll’s first season as the Raiders’ head coach continues to be a disaster, and there are really no positive signs from this loss to Cleveland, which is another low point for the team. Starting quarterback Geno Smith completed 30 of 44 passes for 285 passing yards and one touchdown.

As for the pass catchers, no player registered close to 100 yards receiving, with Tyler Lockett recording 62 receiving yards, the most of any player. While the Raiders leaned on the passing game, it came at a cost: the offensive line allowed 10 sacks.

Moreover, the running game was again nonexistent, with Ashton Jeanty getting 17 carries for 50 rushing yards. Nonetheless, Jeanty did have an impact in the passing game, getting eight receptions for 58 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Despite the positives from Jeanty, it still doesn’t take away that the Silver and Black’s offense, under offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, couldn’t score more than 20 points again, as the Raiders will now face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13. Right now, the team needs to get through the rest of the games and address the direction they want to go in the offseason.
