Browns Star Myles Garrett Flamed After Shot at Steelers

Cleveland Browns star pass-rusher Myles Garrett threw some fuel on the rivalry fire ahead of a Week 6 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Garrett knows exactly what kind of reception awaits him in Pittsburgh — and he’s leaning into it.

The former Defensive Player of the Year shared a clip on social media of Steelers fans chanting “(expletive) Myles Garrett,” paired with footage from his Friday press conference. When asked if he gets extra hate from the Pittsburgh crowd, Garrett grinned and said, “For sure — and I love it.”

He added, “That kind of stuff fuels me. I love the chance. I love to talk. That’s part of the game. That’s what makes the game special.”

Steelers Fans Troll Browns Star Myles Garrett With Trade Demand

Garrett’s post went viral and caught the attention of some Steelers fans. The majority of responses featured Garrett’s public trade proposal from the offseason.

“Does this fuel you too?” one fan said, attaching his message.

Garrett had an extended standoff with the Browns this offseason and posted his trade demand on social media.

“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl,” Garrett’s post read. “With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

Garrett and the Browns eventually figured things out and he signed a four-year, $160 million extension. At the time, it was record-setting money for a non-quarterback.

Browns DE Myles Garrett Warns Rookie Ahead of Steelers Matchup

The Browns have a talented group of rookies in key positions, and Sunday’s matchup will be their first taste of the rivalry with the Steelers. Garrett delivered some advice to the young guns before the matchup.

“It’s not going to be pretty. All that matters is that you get the win. We have been through a lot of gritty, grimy matchups with these guys. And it’s a rivalry for a reason,” Garrett said. “Just play confidently, play your game, trust in your teammates and we’ll support you. Don’t worry about playing the cleanest game or the perfect game. Just worry about the next play and how you can make the most of it.”

The Browns are looking to end a rough run in Pittsburgh. The Browns have not won a road regular-season game in Pittsburgh since 2003. Cleveland is a 6.5-point underdog on the road for Sunday’s matchup.

“Winning in general would mean a lot. Doesn’t matter where it is or who it is. Right now we need to get a win desperately, and there’s got to be a sense of urgency with everybody,” Garrett said. “Now, is there some history behind it? I’m sure but behind any win or loss you can go back and find, but we want to beat these guys and there’s definitely layers to it, but the most basic of that is we need one.”
