This offseason, the Milwaukee Bucks decided to sign Myles Turner. Turner spent the first 10 years of his NBA career with the Indiana Pacers. He signed a four-year deal worth $108.9 million, using the waive-and-stretch provision on Damian Lillard in the process.
Turner played the first game against his former team on Monday night. He was given a video tribute by the organization, during which the fans cascaded him with boos. Turner ended up helping the Bucks get a 117-115 win in his first game as an opponent.
Giannis Antetokounmpo wasn’t pleased with how the Pacers fans reacted during Turner’s return to Indy. He believes that the fans should have given him a warmer reception after giving a decade to the city.

Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Fires Back at Pacers Fans
While speaking to the media after the game, Antetokounmpo made it known that he had Turner’s back.
“To be able to come back here to Indiana, the all-time block leader, and to get booed for sure, he (Turner) might not say this, kind of hurt. But we are here to pick him up, tell him how much we love him and respect him.”
Antetokounmpo ended up winning the game for the Bucks on a fadeaway jumper as time expired. He was the leading scorer in the game, putting up 33 points. The rest of the Bucks understood how much this game meant to Turner, and they wanted to win this one for him.
Turner spoke after the game on boos, frustrated with the fact that fans gave him that reception.
“It was disheartening, man. It was frustrating. You give 10 years of your life, your blood, your sweat, your tears. You take pay cuts. You survive trade rumors. You try to do everything the right way, and then sometimes stuff shakes out. It is cool. I take it on the chin.”

Milwaukee Bucks Center Myles Turner Has Fit Well With Giannis Antetokounmpo
Turner has struggled offensively since signing with Milwaukee. After hitting his first two shots against Indiana, he finished just 3-7 from the field for only nine points. Yet, his defense has been the difference for the Bucks. He is second in the NBA in blocks.
Milwaukee has faith that Turner’s offense will improve as the season goes along. So far, it hasn’t affected their ability to win games. The Bucks sit third in the Eastern Conference standings, so they are finding ways to win around his poor offensive showings.
This was the first of four meetings between these two rival teams. The Bucks will face the Pacers again two days before Christmas in Indiana before playing their final two matchups with them in Milwaukee. Turner will make sure he’s up for those three matchups, as well.
Turner is the right kind of player for this Bucks team, as long as he stays healthy. Having shooters around both Turner and Antetokounmpo has worked out well so far. As chemistry continues to build between those two, the results should only continue to get better on offense.
