Bucks Trade Blockbuster Idea Ships Out Giannis Antetokounmpo for $285 Million Forward

The Milwaukee Bucks have done everything they can to make Giannis Antetokounmpo happy.

They did their best to improve the team this past summer, waiving and stretching the contract of Damian Lillard to free up cap space.

They signed former Indiana Pacers big man Myles Turner to a four-year $108 million contract, and also brought former Orlando Magic point guard Cole Anthony aboard.

The Bucks even signed Giannis’ brothers, bringing Thanasis and Alex Antetokounmpo into the fold.

Despite bending over backwards, it likely still won’t be enough to make an Eastern Conference contender out of Milwaukee.

And Antetokounmpo is already considering his options outside of the team that drafted him, with Shams Charania reporting he had his eye on the New York Knicks this past summer.

Should the Bucks just get a head start on the inevitable and trade their two-time MVP while they still have leverage?

Bucks Trade Proposal Lands Celtics’ Jaylen Brown

In a blockbuster trade idea proposed by Matt Moore of Fansided, the Milwaukee Bucks would ship the Greek Freak to the Boston Celtics for a package headlined by Jaylen Brown.

Boston Celtics receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Myles Turner, Bobby Portis

Milwaukee Bucks receive: Jaylen Brown, Anfernee Simons, Sam Hauser, Xavier Tillman, two first-round picks

In a trade that would shatter the landscape of the Eastern Conference, the Bucks and Celtics practically swap the makeup of their teams and their stars.

“Obviously, Jaylen Brown is the best player in any of these packages that the Bucks can get back. A good-to-great player, in his prime, on a long-term contract,” wrote Moore.

“Maybe you move him in a year if you realize you have to re-start, but you can move him for a lot with better leverage than they have with Giannis. Simons is tricky; if you do this deal, you want to do it before the deadline so you can move him again.”

With the Bucks shipping out three of their current starters, the roster becomes dramatically different.

Brown becomes the centerpiece of the team and finally gets the opportunity to showcase what he can do as the No. 1 option in his own city, something he was unable to do playing alongside Jayson Tatum.

Whether it works out or not would be interesting to watch, but as Moore pointed out, the Bucks could always flip him for more assets and tear the team down to the studs for a full-on rebuild.

Would the Celtics Make the Deal?

It seems almost impossible that the Boston Celtics would part ways with their 2024 Finals MVP.

But after they cut ties with nearly half of their championship core this past summer, it feels like anything is on the table for President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens.

The Tatum Achilles injury threw a lot of things out of whack in Boston, and with an expected down year without their perennial MVP candidate, why wouldn’t the Celtics take a massive swing on a player like Antetokounmpo?

“It would be painful for the Celtics to make this trade, to the point where it’s unlikely they do because of how much they value him. But Boston gets to instantly reorganize their future. It’s now Tatum coming back from the Achilles with Derrick White and Giannis. That’s your core for the next four years,” continued Moore.

“Giannis and Tatum aren’t a natural fit, but they can both pull so much gravitational help to open up shooters, and are so talented, you live with it. The Celtics instantly transition to an elite defensive team.”

While the 2025-26 Celtics would look like this year’s Milwaukee Bucks, the real fun begins in 2026, when Boston unveils their newest superstar duo.
