Calls Grow for Jets to Reunite With Super Bowl Champ Ahead of Camp

Veteran NFL safety Jalen Mills is looking for a home in 2025.

New York Jets fans believe that the destination should be Florham Park.

“I hope nyj brings you back,” one fan posted on X previously Twitter.

A fan asked, “You back with Gang Green?”

“You were great for jets wouldn’t mind having u back,” another fan admitted.

Mills, 31, joined the Jets last season, appearing in nine games and making eight starts. He collected an interception, a forced fumble, six pass deflections, and totaled 44 tackles.

A fan on social media asked Mills which he would prefer, to join a contender in the middle of the season or to join a meh team ahead of training camp?

Mills responded, “Day 1 of training camp. I want to earn everything!”

Mills Would Bring Some Much Needed Experience to the Safety Room for the Jets

The former LSU product has been in the NFL for nine years. If he joined a team in 2025, it would become an even decade in the league.

Mills won a Super Bowl ring during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles. He also spent time with the New England Patriots, New York Giants, and, most recently, the Jets.

Across his career, Mills has appeared in 115 games and has made 91 starts. Mills has eight interceptions, 1.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits, 59 pass deflections, one defensive touchdown, and he has totaled 450 tackles.

For a Jets safety room that is lacking experience, Mills could be a valuable player-coach to the rest of his teammates.

Another thing that would prove valuable is Mills’ versatility as a Swiss army knife.

This past season for the Jets, Mills registered defensive snaps at free safety, strong safety, as a slot defender, and was even used in a few pass rushing opportunities, per Pro Football Focus.

A creative defensive coordinator could come up with a lot of unique ways to maximize Mills. Plus, that versatility always comes in handy when injuries befall the secondary, which occurred on several occasions for the Jets in 2024.

Aaron Glenn Slammed the Door on a Jets Narrative About Him This Offseason

The Jets only have three players on the 91-man roster who are 30 years of age or older heading into training camp. That list includes backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor (35), longsnapper Thomas Hennessy (31), and wide receiver Josh Reynolds (30), per the Jets’ official roster sheet.

There has been a narrative that Glenn “hates old people,” as Jets analyst James Wudi jokingly said on “Boy Green Meets Wudi.”

However, Glenn addressed that when speaking with the media this offseason.

“Listen do we want younger players? Absolutely. It’s a young man’s game, but we want players that can help us win. So if those players happen to be 30 years old, we get those players,” Glenn said. “It just so happened that we got younger while we got players who can help us win.”
