The good vibes from the start of the Arizona Cardinals‘ 2025 campaign have disappeared very quickly. After getting off to a 2-0 start, the Cardinals have suffered three straight losses to the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, and Tennessee Titans, with the latter being the most brutal of the bunch.
That makes Arizona’s upcoming contest against the Indianapolis Colts extremely important, but the team could have a big problem on its hands with quarterback Kyler Murray, who is dealing with a foot injury ahead of this one. And according to the latest update on his injury, it sounds like Murray’s status for this game could truly be up in the air.
Cardinals Get Concerning Update on Kyler Murray’s Foot Injury
At his best, Murray is one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the NFL, but for much of the 2025 campaign, the Cardinals’ offense has not appeared to be in sync. Losing running backs James Conner and Trey Benson to injuries surely hasn’t helped, but Murray often has gotten his wires crossed with his top playmakers in the passing game, such as Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr.
While Arizona managed to escape its first two games of the season with wins, they haven’t been nearly as lucky since then. When opposing defenses make adjustments, Murray and the offense haven’t been able to adjust, allowing teams like the lowly Titans to make comebacks against them. As a result, the team finds itself in a tough spot heading into Week 6.
Not only will the Cardinals have to take on the Colts, who have been one of the top teams in the league through five games, but they may have to do it without Murray. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Murray missing the team’s practice on Wednesday isn’t a good sign, and while this isn’t expected to be a long-term injury, it seems like he could end up missing this game against the Colts.
“For the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray, their starting quarterback, is dealing with a foot sprain,” Rapoport said on “Good Morning Football.” “Did not practice yesterday. Murray was asked after the game how this foot injury would affect his status, said simply, ‘We’ll see.’ Not a great sign that he wasn’t able to go on Wednesday, but not considered to be a major injury.”
Will Kyler Murray Play in Week 6 vs. Colts?

If Murray can’t go, that would force veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett into action. Brissett has largely managed to hold his own under center throughout his offense, but it’s going to be tough for him to lead the Cardinals to victory over the Colts. Heck, even if Murray does play, Arizona is going to be a heavy underdog heading into this game.
It’s never a great sign to see a quarterback miss practice on Wednesday, but the good news is that Murray still has two days to get himself back on the field. If he misses practice on Thursday, then it may be time to sound the alarm bells, but considering the stakes, the team is going to give him every opportunity he needs to get healthy ahead of this game. Kickoff for this clash with the Colts is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, and all eyes will be on Murray to see if he ends up playing.
