Chelsea star Levi Colwill says his decision to move back into his family home in Southampton is the reason why he’s performing so well this season.
Colwill has shined in the heart of Chelsea’s defence under head coach Enzo Maresca this term and has established himself as a key player in their starting XI.
The 21-year-old, capped four times by England, has moved back in with his parents down on the south coast – where he was born – and credits the house switch as one of the key reasons why he has taken his game to the next level.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Colwill said: ‘When I go back home and see my family, my dog especially, all my problems go away.
‘I think that’s why I have been so happy this season and playing very good football.
‘When I step outside of this (Chelsea) bubble, I can just be Levi. That’s what my family know me as.
‘They treat me the same, especially my little brother. I just really enjoy it (at my parents’ house).’

Meanwhile, Colwill has heaped praise on his head coach Maresca for getting the very best out of him since he replaced Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.
‘It’s amazing what he’s done,’ Colwill added. ‘I think the tactical side everyone sees that, but what he’s created in the environment with us is that you’ve got to be on your A game every day.
‘Training or matches, it doesn’t matter when it is, you’ve got to prepare to go to war with each other.
‘That’s where we are taking the biggest steps and striving for our goals because no one is taking their foot off the pedal.
‘And when we step on the pitch, of course you’ve got the tactical side, where in my opinion he’s always steps ahead of the other managers.
‘He’s always prepared. He always knows everything they’re going to do. We always have surprises up our sleeve.’
