Chicago Bears’ Possible Wild Card Opponents: Who Could They Face In The Playoffs?

The Chicago Bears are in the postseason and have won the AFC North division for the first time since former coach, Matt Nagy’s debut season back in 2018.

After losing a nail-biting back-and-forth Sunday night classic against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17, the #1 seed – and the automatic first round bye that comes with it – is out of grasp.

However, the team can still come either 2nd or 3rd in the NFC conference, depending on the outcome of the Week 18 slate.

Here how different results on Sunday will determine the Bears’ possible opponents for the Wild Card Round the following weekend.

Who Will The Bears Host In The Wild Card Round?

There are three possible teams that Chicago can face in the second week of January, as head coach, Ben Johnson and quarterback, Caleb Williams, look for their career first playoff win together.

If the Bears win on Sunday, or lose alongside the Philadelphia Eagles also losing to the Washington Commanders, Chicago takes the #2 seed. In that scenario, there is only one team they can face; divisional foes, the Green Bay Packers, who have wrapped up the #7 seed but have no route to securing the #5 or #6 position in the NFC.

If the Bears lose, and the Eagles win, there are two possible opponents for them; the Los Angeles Rams, or a rematch with the San Francisco 49ers.

If the Rams beat the Arizona Cardinals, and the 49ers lose to the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday night – in a game that will also decide the winner of the NFC West – then Chicago will face San Francisco. Otherwise, they will go up against the Rams.

What Are The Bears’ Odds To Win In Each Matchup?

FanDuel Sportsbook has early, speculative lines out for each of Chicago’s three possible matchups for the Wild Card Round, and in all three of them, the Bears are underdogs – something that shocked NFL Network alum Kay Adams, host of Up and Adams.

Adams was not particularly impressed with the early lines set by the traders at FanDuel in her post on Friday.

LEMME GET THIS STRAIGHT… the Bears would be underdogs — at home — in every scenario???” Adams posted on X, before adding, “... I dunno man.”

At home against the Packers, Chicago are currently an ultra-slight -110 underdog, with the Bears priced at -106, in a game that is essentially a pick-’em, despite the spread being -1.5 to the Packers. A line that some will find quizzical, given that Chicago beat Green Bay when they hosted them at Soldier field less than two weeks ago in Week 16, winning the game 22-16 in overtime.

Hosting the 49ers, the underdog price increases ever-so slightly, with the Bears at +102 to the Niners’ -120, with the spread number remaining -1.5 to the 49ers.

Yet the biggest shift comes against the Rams, where LA are a 4.5 point underdog and are priced at -225 to win, compared to the Bears priced at +188.

The Wild Card will see Williams’ first ever playoff game – something that normally does not bode well against experienced coaches and well-oiled franchises. But having them as an underdog against all three possible opponents as the #2 or #3 seed certainly feels like some degree of disrespect to a team that has exceeded almost all reasonable expectations in 2025.
