The Chicago Bulls have once again found themselves where they don’t want to be. They are sitting at 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. They have been living in the play-in game over the last few seasons, stuck in the middle of the NBA.
Teams have been calling the Bulls, gauging their interest in potential trades. One player that other teams have been inquiring about is guard Coby White. For a while, the Bulls didn’t seem interested in giving him up for any packages other teams might suggest.
According to a recent report, it seems that the Bulls might be willing to give White up for the right price. If that happens, the Bulls would be signaling that they are finally going to start a rebuild.

Chicago Bulls Reportedly Open to Trading Coby White
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Bulls aren’t shopping White around, but they are open to listening to offers. Stein believes it doesn’t mean that they will actually trade him, but other teams think they are open to offers more than they were.
White has put up career-high numbers in terms of scoring and assists so far this season. He has still only played 12 games due to an injury, but he is fully healthy now. White is still just 25 years old, so trading him would signal a departure in faith with the current roster.
The Bulls have the seventh-worst defense in the league, which is not something White has been known for. He’s not a bad defender, although he is posting the worst defensive rating of his career this season. Chicago would still need a solid package to part ways with him.
It’s more likely that the Bulls would be willing to part ways with other members of the organization before trading White away. Nikola Vucevic is a player who makes more sense for the Bulls to trade away than White does.

The Bulls Could Turn the Keys Over to Josh Giddey
When White was out to start the year, Josh Giddey was given the keys to the offense. He turned into the de facto point guard for the team, and he played really well. His ability to break the defense down and find open shooters is something the Bulls need.
There is a chance that Chicago decides to break things down and build around Giddey. Giddey just signed a massive $100 million extension in the offseason, so he is clearly viewed as a franchise player by the Bulls. Sending White away to get more pieces to build around him might be the move.
Finding a new home for Patrick Williams would be ideal, but teams aren’t likely to want to take over his bloated contract for the lack of production he provides. It’s going to take a massive overhaul to turn the Bulls around, and it’s unclear if they are fully willing to take that step.
