News of a Kansas City Chiefs reunion surfaced on the evening of November 12, as KC re-signed undrafted rookie wide receiver Jimmy Holiday ahead of their Week 11 matchup with the Denver Broncos.
A-to-Z Sports Kansas City reporter Charles Goldman relayed this news on X, informing: “The Chiefs re-signed WR Jimmy Holiday to the practice squad.”
This roster move was also confirmed by the NFL’s daily transaction notice. And for those wondering, there was no corresponding cut being that defensive tackle Brodric Martin was just poached off the Chiefs’ practice squad on November 5.
That departure freed up an open spot for Holiday to return, following his sudden release on November 4.
Jimmy Holiday Flashed With the Chiefs During Training Camp & the Preseason
There’s a reason KC is bringing back Holiday, and there’s also a reason he was offered a spot on their practice squad from September through early November. And it’s that the promising UDFA flashed plenty of big-play potential this summer.
During the preseason, Holiday only caught 3-of-4 targets for a total of 60 receiving yards, but one of his receptions went for 50 yards. Similarly, the youngster displayed an ability and prowess as a returner, and has the speed and explosiveness to gash a special teams unit or defense at any given moment.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid loves players like that, and Holiday checks all the boxes of a developmental receiver who could turn into a useful asset later on.
In college, Holiday returned kickoffs for Tennessee in 2021 and 2022. However, his best season as a receiver came with Louisiana Tech in 2024. The 6-foot-1 pass-catcher caught 39-of-65 targets for 476 receiving yards in that final collegiate campaign.
His preseason kick return average yielded 28 yards per attempt.
Running Back Injuries Headline Chiefs & Broncos News in Week 11

Ironically, the Chiefs and Broncos could both be without their starting running backs in Week 11.
Kansas City RB Isiah Pacheco suffered an MCL sprain in his knee and has been sidelined for the past couple of weeks. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday, November 12, and Reid appeared to be very hesitant about Pacheco’s playing status on Monday.
Pacheco would have to log some sort of practice time on Thursday or Friday to even have a chance at suiting up in Denver, and that feels unlikely as of Wednesday evening.
On the flip side, Broncos counterpart J.K. Dobbins has been rumored as an injured reserve candidate after he suffered an unspecified foot injury in Week 10. Denver has yet to decide on Dobbins’ roster spot and whether or not they will shift him to IR, but his Week 11 status is very much in doubt either way.
Per Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com, Broncos head coach Sean Payton confirmed that Dobbins did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. He also quoted Payton, who said that rookie and backup RB RJ Harvey will “have more opportunities here in this game [against the Chiefs].”
These comments hint that Dobbins is trending toward missing the Week 11 matchup versus Kansas City, similar to Pacheco.
While both running backs are very important to their respective teams, the Broncos tend to lean on Dobbins and the run game much more than the Chiefs, who have always been a pass-first offense under quarterback Patrick Mahomes. It’ll be interesting to see if Harvey, a dynamic 2025 second-round pick, can pick up the slack if the veteran sits out.
After all, KC has the much more battle-tested Kareem Hunt to call upon, should they need him. The veteran started Week 9 in place of Pacheco, racking up 4.5 yards per carry and 1 touchdown on 11 carries and 47 offensive snaps.
