Chiefs Step Out in My Cause My Cleats While Fighting to Stay In the Playoff Picture

The Kansas City Chiefs will take the field on Sunday with more than a win on their minds. As the team prepares for a critical Week 12 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, players will once again participate in the NFL’s annual My Cause My Cleats campaign — a league-wide initiative that allows players to showcase custom cleats supporting nonprofit organizations and personal causes.

The Chiefs enter the game at 5-5, fighting to regain footing in the AFC playoff picture, while the Colts sit at 8-2 and are riding strong momentum. But before kickoff, Kansas City’s roster is uniting around charitable missions ranging from youth programming to cancer awareness to mental health support.

My Cause My Cleats Highlights Youth, Health & Community Impact

Now in its ninth season, My Cause My Cleats remains the NFL’s leading platform for players, coaches, and staff to spotlight charitable work that matters to them. According to the NFL, more than 1,800 participants will take part this year, elevating causes including:

Chiefs players will wear custom-designed cleats representing organizations and foundations connected to their personal passions and community work.

Among the featured participants:

Patrick Mahomes – 15 and the Mahomies Foundation

“Youth health and wellness initiatives, football camps and community programming”

Travis Kelce – Eighty-Seven and Running

“Programs supporting underserved youth in education, athletics and mentorship”

Chris Jones – Light the World Giving Machine

“Food insecurity and health initiatives”

Rashee Rice – Rashee Rice Legacy Foundation

“Mental health awareness and resources”

George Karlaftis – Kansas City Public Schools Education Foundation

“Education, economic advancement and police-community relations”

Mahomes previously spoke about the impact of the initiative, saying, “Using our platform to do good in the community is something I don’t take for granted.”

This year’s activation also extends further to fans. Through partnerships with:

Supporters can donate directly to player causes, bid on game-worn cleats, and even design their own AI-created cleats honoring causes they care about.

Kansas City Gets Injury Boost Ahead of Crucial Matchup vs. Colts

While Sunday carries philanthropic meaning, it also marks a pivotal moment in the Chiefs’ season. Kansas City sits in third place in the AFC West, and for the first time in Patrick Mahomes’ career, the postseason is not guaranteed.

The Chiefs received positive news ahead of kickoff: rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy — who is also participating in My Cause My Cleats for The Worthy 1’s Foundation supporting single mothers and youth — is expected to play after being listed as questionable with an ankle issue, reports NFL Insider Ian Rapoport via X.

Mahomes praised Worthy earlier in the season, saying, “He’s just so explosive. When the ball is in his hands, defenses have to adjust, and when they do, it opens things up for everyone else.”

Kansas City will need that spark. A win keeps division hopes alive. A loss drops the Chiefs to 5-6 and deepens concerns about postseason viability.

Kickoff for the Chiefs vs Colts is set for 3:25 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium.
