Colorado’s Deion Sanders Hints at Sideline Move He’s Never Made Ahead of TCU Game

The 2025 season for Deion Sanders and Colorado has gotten off to a start rockier than the mountains that surround them in Boulder. The Buffaloes sit at 2-3 through five games and now face one of the Big 12’s best in TCU on the road.

Going against the Horned Frogs (3-1) will be a challenge for Colorado, not only because this is a much better team than the one they faced upon Sanders’ arrival in 2023 but also due to the weather. The temperatures in Fort Worth at Amon G. Carter Stadium are expected to reach close to 90 degrees, if not higher, for the 3:30 p.m. EST kickoff.

That already has Sanders sweating.

While on the Colorado Football Coaches Show, Sanders said he might do the unthinkable and wear a short-sleeved shirt.

“I may wear short sleeves. I never wear short sleeves. Never, ever … I might wear one this week,” Sanders said.

Whenever Sanders is on the sideline, he’s always seen with either a Colorado long-sleeved hoodie or long-sleeved T-shirt. That even goes back to his debut game against TCU in early September 2023. That day, the Buffaloes upset the No. 17 Horned Frogs 45-42 in Fort Worth, where temperatures reached the 90s. Sanders, however, was decked out in what has become his signature long-sleeve attire.

We’ll see if he switches it up this time to accommodate the fierce Texas heat.

Colorado Needs a Win Over TCU

Surprisingly, the Buffaloes, per NCAA statistics, have faced the toughest schedule in college football this season. Yet only two of Colorado’s losses have come to currently ranked opponents outside the top 15 (No. 17 Georgia Tech, No. 23 BYU), with the other loss to Houston (4-0). Their only wins came against Delaware and Wyoming, both Group of Five schools.

The real problem for Sanders and Colorado, though, is that they are 0-2 in the Big 12. Now all seven remaining games on the schedule are in conference play, and the Buffaloes need wins to have any chance of playing in the Big 12 Championship. But it may be too late, especially if they can’t pull an upset against TCU in Week 6.

If the spread is any indication of how the game might go, the Buffaloes don’t have much of a shot. According to ESPN Bet, TCU is favored by 13.5 points.

Deion Sanders Believes Colorado is Still a Good Team

The 0-2 start in conference play has put Colorado tied for last place in the Big 12 with West Virginia. Hoping to right the ship, many wondered if returning to the site where the fanfare began for Colorado in the Sanders era might spark the team now.

“I can’t live in the past,” Sanders said. “The past is the past. We gonna leave that there.”

But Sanders still believes this team can do great things, even though it hasn’t shown it yet.

“We’re coming off a tough game (loss to BYU), and we want to go in there and get back to where we know we’re supposed to be. I feel like we have a pretty darn good football team, even though the record don’t display that. Two games to ranked opponents by 10 points in total makes us think, darn, a play here, a play there (and) we get it going.”
