The Indianapolis Colts have won four games in a row, improving their record to 7-1, which is the best in the league.
Indy has one of the best passing and rushing offenses in the league, averaging 385.3 yards per game under third-year head coach Shane Steichen and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, the most in the NFL.
Quarterback Daniel Jones has been a great piece for the Colts this season after signing a $14 million contract with the team. But it has been running back Jonathan Taylor, who is the life of the team on offense.
One NFL sports commentator believes that, given the way Taylor has been playing this season and his importance to their offense, he will win an award this season.
Rich Eisen Makes His MVP Prediction

Sports commentator and show host Rich Eisen predicted on his “Rich Eisen Show” after Week 8 that Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor would win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award this season.
“It’s tough to wrap your arms around this concept, too. That the MVP of the National Football League is a running back,” Eisen said on his show. “It’s time to wrap your arms around the idea that we’re seeing it happen right now.”
“If you’re not going to believe in the quarterback (Daniel Jones) as the MVP of the team, he can’t be MVP of the league… [Jones] isn’t running it a lot, but he is throwing it. The reason why he’s not running it a lot is cause he’s got a running back who’s running it in from wherever he damn pleases.”
If Taylor were to win the MVP this season, it would be the first time in 14 years that a non-quarterback won the award.
The running back currently leads the league with 850 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. Taylor also has the most scrimmage TDs with two more receiving touchdowns this season.
The last player that wasn’t a QB to win the award? Running back Adrian Peterson. The retired player ran for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns back in the 2012 season with the Minnesota Vikings.
In the same season, Peterson was a Pro Bowler, first-team All-Pro, Offensive Player of the Year winner and finished second in the Comeback Player of the Year voting. While it is almost unlikely for Taylor to win the CPOY Award, everything else is in play for the Colt.
Jonathan Taylor Receiving MVP Chants

Rich Eisen isn’t the only person to think that Jonathan Taylor is deserving of receiving the MVP award.
After Taylor’s performance in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans, where he rushed for 153 yards, two rushing TDs and a receiving TD, Colts fans were chanting “MVP.”
“We feed off the fans, especially at home,” Taylor responded when asked about receiving MVP chants. “For us to come out, firing on all cylinders, it’s really a testament to all the work we put in and we’re just glad that the fans are here for it. They’re engaged. Makes it a tough environment for the opposing team.”
The running back is on track to tie his career best in rushing yards and rushing TDs with his 2021 season, when he ran for 1,811 yards and crossed the white line 18 times, leading the NFL in both categories.
With how much he means to the Colts’ offense, there is a clear case for Jonathan Taylor to win the award
