Commanders Get Major Update on WRs Terry McLaurin & Noah Brown for Week 5

The Washington Commanders have done an admirable job of staying competitive while having two of their best offensive weapons on the mend, with star quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin dealing with injuries.

The Commanders will head into Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season with a 2-2 record, facing the tall task of taking on Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. Washington will be looking to bounce back after the Week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

The real question heading into Week 5 is the status of Daniels and McLaurin, as that will play a major role in whether this offense can put up points against the stout Chargers defense.

Unfortunately, the Commanders will have to wait another week to get their star wide receiver back on the field, as he’s not ready to return from his quadriceps injury.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, McLaurin will be on the shelf for Week 5’s matchup against the Chargers, along with tight end Noah Brown, who continues to deal with groin and knee injuries.

Even though McLaurin won’t be on the field for the Commanders this Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the veteran wideout was able to get back on the practice field, as he was seen stretching on Thursday, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic.

It seems as though McLaurin will return to the gridiron sooner rather than later, which is obviously great news for Daniels and the Commanders‘ offense.

Jayden Daniels is Back in the Mix for Commanders

As for Daniels, the new face of the Commanders franchise appears to be ready to go and made it clear he will be on the field to take on the Chargers on Sunday.

“I plan on going out there on Sunday,” Daniels said via ESPN.

Daniels hasn’t been too happy about being sidelined with his knee issue over the past two weeks and has been relatively vocal about his discontent with being stuck watching on the sidelines while veteran journeyman quarterback Marcus Mariota takes the snaps under center for the Commanders.

The up-and-coming quarterback believes he could’ve played the last two weeks.

“Obviously, as a competitor, you want to go out there and help your team in any way possible,” Daniels said. “So being sidelined for this past couple of weeks were super tough.

“I felt like I could go two weeks ago, but I don’t make those calls.”

With Daniels being the face of the franchise, the Commanders brass doesn’t want to take any chances with a player they’ve invested so much in after an incredible rookie season. That said, it’s not entirely surprising that the team would be cautious with their budding superstar, especially at the beginning of the 2025 campaign, given their formidable backup in Mariota.
