Commanders Sign Former Big-Play WR After Terrible CB Injury News

It’s official. The Washington Commanders placed rookie cornerback Trey Amos, who suffered a fractured fibula in Week 10, on injured reserve Tuesday. In one of the corresponding moves the team also made Tuesday, the Commanders signed former 1,000-yard receiver Robbie Chosen to their active roster.

Chosen, who was formerly known as Robbie Anderson, has played two games this season for Washington as a practice squad elevation. He posted five catches for 53 yards in the two contests.

Furthermore, the Commanders announced signing fellow receiver Jacoby Jones to the active roster. The undrafted rookie was also previously on Washington’s practice squad.

Finally, the Commanders also signed wide receiver River Cracraft and defensive end DeMarcus Walker to their practice squad.

Chosen began his career with the New York Jets from 2016-19, where he posted three consecutive seasons of at least 750 receiving yards. Chosen also had 20 touchdowns in 62 games with New York.

In 2020, the wideout posted 95 catches, 1,096 receiving yards and three scores with the Carolina Panthers.

Since then, Chosen hasn’t been able to recapture that magic. In fact, he still has yet to reach 95 receptions or 1,000 receiving yards since the start of the 2021 campaign.

But over his entire career, Chosen has averaged 13.4 yards per reception.

Amos, who the Commanders drafted at No. 61 overall in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, will finish his first NFL season with 32 combined tackles and six pass defenses. One of his tackles went for a loss.

Amos started eight of the 10 contests in which he appeared as a rookie.
