Cowboy Kicker Brandon Aubrey Makes NFL History in Win Over Commanders

If things keep going the way they have been for Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, this won’t be the last time we see him make NFL history.

Aubrey became the first player in NFL history with 5 career field goals of 60 or more yards after he made a 61-yard field goal in a 44-22 Week 7 win over the Washington Commanders.

“With this 61-yard field goal, Brandon Aubrey has now made the most field goals from 60+ of anyone in NFL history, at five,” Yahoo Sports NFL reporter Jori Epstein wrote on her official X account on October 19.

“Brandon Aubrey‘s 61-yard field goal was his fifth career make from 60-plus yards,” Dallas Cowboys Public Relations wrote on its official X account, .”He is the only kicker in NFL history with five field goals from 60-plus yards.”

“We call (Aubrey) Stephen Curry, because his range is pretty much from anywhere,” Fox Sports color commentator and 7-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady said during the broadcast.

Aubrey’s Kicking Prowess Winning Fans Around NFL

Aubrey has become a sensation for his ability to make long kicks. He could very well end up breaking the NFL record for the longest field goal set by former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who hit a 66-yard field goal in 2021.

Aubrey was an All-American soccer player at Notre Dame and a first round pick (No. 21 overall) by Toronto FC in the 2021 MLS Draft before switching sports in 2019 at his wife’s urging.

Aubrey spent 3 years training before he signed with the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, where he played in 2022 and 2023 before catching on with the Cowboys in 2023.

“Brandon Aubrey is not a kicker,” Cowboys fan Cameron Magruder wrote on his official X account on October 19. “He is an offensive weapon.”

“How long until Brandon Aubrey is in conversations for the greatest kicker of all time,” Cowboys fan account FergSZN wrote.

“You have to extend George Pickens and Brandon Aubrey no matter what,” Cowboys fan account Butter Aubrey wrote on its official X account.

Aubrey is in the final season of a 3-year, $2.695 million contract and could very well be in for a massive payday when he gets another deal. Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is currently the highest paid kicker in the NFL on a 4-year, $25.6 million contract he signed in 2024.

“Brandon Aubrey is making barely $1 million this year … meanwhile, Harrison Butker got $25.6 million to be the league’s top-paid kicker,” NFL reporter Troy Hughes wrote on his official X account. “Aubrey’s been automatic, clutch and flat-out elite It’s time Dallas pays the man and makes him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history.”

“Brandon Aubrey’s impact on football games needs to be talked about more,” TWSN wrote on its official X account.

Cowboys Found Pair of Special Teams Stars in UFL

Aubrey is one of several current Cowboys special teams stars the franchise has signed from the USFL alongside NFL All-Pro and 2-time Pro Bowl kick returner Kavontae Turpin.

Aubrey is a 2-time NFL All-Pro and 2-time Pro Bowler, earning all of his honors over the last 2 seasons.
