Cowboys Blockbuster Trade Proposal Sends Star Edge To AFC

The Dallas Cowboys have been going back and forth with linebacker, Micah Parsons, in what feels like a never-ending saga.

No matter how many other off his draft-classmates are paid, or how many elite-level veterans receive big-money extensions, Parsons still somehow ends up the odd one out, still waiting for a new deal.

At this point, it seems like Parsons has accepted to the fact that whilst a big contract extension will be forthcoming in some shape and form, it may not happen on the timescale that he necessarily wants or deserves.

Or indeed, from one specific team – and in this trade proposal the Cowboys part ways with their 3 x All-Pro edge rusher and send him over to the AFC West’s Las Vegas Raiders to pair with fellow All-Pro, Maxx Crosby.

Las Vegas Raiders Receive: Micah Parsons, 2026 fourth round pick.

Dallas Cowboys Receive: 2026 first round pick, 2027 first round pick, 2027 second round pick.

Micah Parsons Will Get Paid ‘No Matter What’

Parsons’ comments earlier this week both accept a willingness to accept whatever the future may hold, and a tacit threat to his status in the organization.

“I’m just going to get mine no matter what,” Parsons said about Garrett’s contract affecting his market. “You know what I mean? Like, the markets change every year. Their salary cap went up, like, another 18% this year. So, if you want to know contracts, all the contracts are based off of percentage. Like, each player, a high-paid player, takes a percentage of the salary cap. So, it’s not really the number. It goes off by the salary cap.”

The “no matter what” makes a resonating sound in and around Dallas that – even if this was not the full intended meaning of the phrase – Parsons could be open to seeking a trade if Dallas is not willing to pay him what he is worth.

Why A Trade To The Raiders Would Make A Lot Of Sense

The Raiders are not quite in win-now mode, admittedly. However, they have a solid quarterback, in Geno Smith, who has just been signed to an extension; a pair of solid offensive tackles, including last year’s emerging talent, DJ Glaze; and 2 x All-Pro defensive end, Crosby, playing alongside elite defensive tackle, Christian Wilkins.

The foundations of any team lie in the quarterback, offensive and defensive lines. Whilst some may argue that the Raiders would be better placed to patiently build their way up through the draft, years of losing and constant organizational dysfunction have tanked numerous rebuilds over and over again.

Of the five first round draft picks the team made between 2019 and 2020, only one – now Green Bay Packers running back, Josh Jacobs – can be deemed a success.

Parsons would turn Las Vegas’ defensive line into arguably the most feared pass rush in football – and with over $100 million in cap space in 2026, the Raiders could more than afford to open their chequebook for the Penn State alum.

The Cowboys would be reticent to trade Parsons, but if the price becomes too step for the organization that is already in a tough spot cap-wise – a price that will likely exceed the $41 million/year given to TJ Watt – the Raiders are a sneaky team to watch out for.
