Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs Reveals Cause of Mysterious Home Injury

For months, speculation has run wild about the mysterious home injury which cost Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs 8 games this season — all we have ever known is Diggs suffered a concussion at his home before a Week 7 game against the Washington Commanders.

Now, after a 34-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16 in which Diggs finally returned to the lineup, we now know.

Diggs told the NFL Network’s Jane Slater the concussion he suffered was the result of a television falling on his head.

“Some of you wanted to know how Trevon Diggs got concussed,” Slater wrote on X on Sunday, December 21. “It was never that crazy but the lack of answers made it sound like it was. With his permission he shared and here’s the video of it. He says a tv he was trying to install from the ceiling with the pole mount fell on his head. ‘I was trying to be a handyman’ … He didn’t think it was a big deal and didn’t need to be addressed but speculation on the internet went way too far.”

The Cowboys were officially eliminated from the postseason when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Commanders in Week 16. The loss to the Chargers dropped Dallas to 6-8-1 overall and they’ll miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Now, there’s a chance Diggs, who is playing on a 5-year, $97 million contract extension he signed in 2023 may be playing his last games in a Cowboys uniform.

Diggs Likely Won’t Be In Dallas in 2026

Slater point blank asked Diggs if his time inn Dallas may have come to an end.

“On if (Diggs) thought this may be his last game at AT&T: ‘yeah’ … he says he wants to be here but said they will discuss his future at the end of the season,” Slater wrote.

According to Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr. on a recent episode of the DLLS Cowboys podcast, he felt Diggs had already played his last game in a Cowboys uniform.

The Cowboys had until December 20 to either activate Diggs or put him back on injured reserve after opening up his 3-week practice window earlier this month after the TV fell on his head.

“You know good and damn well he’s not playing, right?” Hill said on Wednesday, December 17. “What’s the point? What’s the point of playing him now? You don’t play him when the season’s on the line. What’s the point of playing him when then season’s not on the line? When everything is over … what’s the point? You might want to get the young guys more reps. He’s going to be gone in the offseason.”

Fans React to Diggs’ TV Accident

As we could probably expect, fans online were not kind to Diggs’ 2-month later reveal, which begs the question of why he didn’t just disclose what happened in the first place.

“Why on earth was Trevon Diggs trying to install a TV into his ceiling?” Zak Knows Ball wrote on X.

“Trevon Diggs returns after months out and still has time to address rumors,” Great Otatei wrote on X. “Multitasking king.”
