One of the Dallas Cowboys’ potential trade targets is once again off the board, and to make matters worse, the pass rusher is headed to the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly continues to be aggressive ahead of the NFL trade deadline on November 4, 2025, while Dallas has stood on the sidelines thus far.
Miami Dolphins pass rusher Jaelan Phillips is headed to the Eagles in exchange for a future third-round pick, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Phillips had previously been linked to the Cowboys as a potential trade candidate.
Dallas is headed for a busy 36 hours with a Week 9 clash against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. The Cowboys front office will then return their attention to potential trades with a 4 p.m. Eastern deadline on Tuesday, November 4.
Let’s dive into the latest Cowboys rumors and news ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
The Cowboys Have Been Quiet as the Eagles Made 4 In-Season Trades
Making trades does not necessarily turn a team into a Super Bowl contender, but it is no coincidence that the Eagles are one of the most aggressive teams in the NFL while also being the defending champs. The Eagles have now made four in-season trades in 2025.
“Eagles trades so far during this season: 🏈Traded a 3rd for Jaelen Phillips. 🏈Traded a 2026 6th to the Ravens for CB Jaire Alexander and a 2027 7th,” Schefter detailed in a November 3, message on X. “🏈Traded WR John Metchie III and a 6th in 2027 to the Jets for CB Michael Carter II and a 7th in 2027. 🏈Traded a 5th in 2026 and a 6th in 2026 to the Jaguars for RB Tank Bigsby.”
Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Had Been Linked to Potential Trade With the Dolphins
Prior to the Eagles-Dolphins trade, Cowboys insider Mike Fisher reported that Dallas had inquired about potential deals with Miami. With Phillips off the board, Matthew Judon and Bradley Chubb could now be potential trade targets for Dallas.
“The Cowboys keep getting linked to Miami Dolphins edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, and for good reason,” Fisher wrote in a November 2, story titled, “Sources: Cowboys Call Bengals, ‘Examine’ Dolphins Trio, Maxx Still Alive? Fish Trade Deadline Notebook.”
“A source tells me that Dallas is ‘examining’ not only Phillips, but also Miami pass-rush teammates Matthew Judon and Bradley Chubb.”
Dak Prescott Changes Stance on Potential Cowboys Trade
Dak Prescott previously downplayed the idea of a potential Cowboys trade. Days later, Prescott appeared more open to the idea of a potential deal. What Prescott is not going to say publicly is that the current iteration of the team’s defense is likely to prevent the team from making noise this season.
“It definitely can help a team, (not) being naïve and understanding where we are,” Prescott noted on October 30, per The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “To say one position is where we need to go, or that, I’m not sure. Leave it to the guys who are in those talks and I’m sure making those decisions and working hard right now as we near the deadline to figure out something.
“It definitely can help. Not going to shy away from saying that. But I will go back to what I said after the last game. I just encourage the guys in the locker room to do whatever they can in this time to shut that talk up. That’s just all of us looking in the mirror and trying to say where can I be better and how can I take advantage of this opportunity?”
