Before the 2025 NFL season began, the Dallas Cowboys made a move that sent shockwaves throughout the league. America’s Team chose it was time to move on from superstar linebacker Micah Parsons, trading one of the best defensive players in the NFL to the Green Bay Packers.
The shock of this blockbuster trade is still fresh in everyone’s mind. It will escalate to another level entirely when the Cowboys host the Packers on Sunday night in arguably the most anticipated matchup of Week 4, mainly due to the storylines surrounding this game.
Although everyone will be talking about Parsons’ return to Dallas to take on his former team at AT&T Stadium, with longtime team owner and general manager Jerry Jones likely to be featured prominently by the cameras early and often during the broadcast, one storyline that is getting overlooked is Kenny Clark facing his old team.
Kenny Clark Overshadowed in Micah Parsons’ Return to Face Cowboys
Obviously, Parsons was the biggest name in the trade between the Cowboys and Packers, but Clark is an elite player in his own right, which means he likely has an axe to grind, considering it has been all about Parsons heading into Week 4.
Clark shared his thoughts on taking on the Packers this weekend on Thursday.
“Of course, when you’ve been somewhere for nine years, it’s hard to not have those emotions, but I mean, it’s another game at the end of the day,” Clark said. “Definitely, I’m going to be amped up. I’m going to be ready to go and prepared, and do everything I’ve got to do in order to help my team win, but at the end of the day, we’re trying to be 1-0 this week.”
Clark is clearly trying to stay focused heading into what will inevitably be an emotional game for the three-time Pro Bowler, which is likely much easier said than done. Everything changes when those bright lights come on at AT&T Stadium with the team that drafted you on the other sideline.
It remains to be seen how Clark and Parsons will react and play when these two storied franchises go head-to-head on Sunday night.
Kenny Clark Might Give Cowboys an Edge Against the Packers
Jordan Love #10 of the Green Bay Packers plays against the Cleveland Browns.
One thing that Clark can bring to the table when facing the Packers is that he knows the team incredibly well, perhaps better than anyone in the league outside of the players who suit up for Green Bay on a weekly basis.
Clark was asked whether having inside knowledge about the Packers would provide an advantage for the Cowboys in terms of what he brings to the table on the football field.
“I know them in and out, and they know me,” Clark said. “I’ve been going against those guys for a long time. I know how they like to block and stuff. As far as scheme and that kind of stuff, that’s a little tougher. As far as me versus the guard, I know how they’re going to block me, knowing the sets. They know what I’m going to do, I know what they’re going to do.”
With the Packers coming off a shocking loss to the Cleveland Browns and the Cowboys having only one win on the season thus far, both teams will be highly motivated to secure a win in Week 4, especially given the heightened drama surrounding the game.
