The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions are facing off in a NFC rivalry game on Thursday, December 4, for Thursday Night Football spectacle, and the Lions just threw the Cowboys a massive curveball.
Just when the Cowboys thought they were safe with the Lions’ injury report news, which shows several starters out, as expected, the Lions announced that one of their star players will be back.
It’s worth mentioning that Detroit is coming off a high-profile loss to the Green Bay Packers from their Thanksgiving game, and their record is 7-5, making them third in the NFC North. So, they’re extra motivated to pull off a win, and perhaps that’s why they’ve tapped this player to return before it was expected.
After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said, “All we got to do is worry about cleaning up this and then getting to the next game and finding a way to win the next one in front of us. That will be after this day or two here they get off. That’s what the focus will be.”
Detroit Lions Bring Back Injured Player for Dallas Cowboys Game
The Detroit Lions have announced that Amon-Ra St. Brown is back to face the Cowboys. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported at 6:39 p.m. ET that St. Brown “gave him a thumbs up” that he, indeed, will be going up against the Dallas Cowboys. Detroit named him “questionable” on its final injury report and were expected to make a game-time decision about whether he’s playing.
Adding to him coming back is that St. Brown was a full participant in pre-game warmups, Fowler reported.
St. Brown is a player who wants to be on the field. He’s only missed two games during his five years in the NFL. The last full game he missed was in 2023 when he was dealing with an abdominal injury in Week 3.
Dan Campbell’s Words Sum Up Why the Lions Wanted This Player Back for the Cowboys
After the Lions’ loss to the Packers, Campbell talked about how it hurt the team to have St. Brown injured and forced to leave that game.
“When you lose a guy like (Amon-Ra St. Brown) Saint, it’s tough,” he said. “There’s so many things that he brings to our offense. Everybody knows the production and the versatility he has. Also, all of the dirty work he does in the run game and all of the little things.”
He added, “The things of where you line up, to where you go, to who you block if it’s this look, to now if they go here, you need to slide back to do this.”
