Cowboys Sign Veteran Cornerback Who Had ‘Standout’ UFL Season

To quell the continuous injury hits the Dallas Cowboys are taking at cornerback, they’re signing veteran CB Michael Ojemudia, the team announced Monday. Ojemudia is a former third-round pick out of Iowa by the Broncos in 2020. He played two seasons in Denver and also played for the Bears, Rams, and Cardinals. Additionally, he spent one season in the UFL with the DC Defenders.

In a corresponding move, the Cowboys waived/injured CB Bruce Harmon, who went down with an injury in Dallas’ second preseason game against the Ravens. In two preseason games, Harmon had three tackles.

When Ojemudia played for the Bears in 2022, his head coach was none other than Matt Eberflus, who is now the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys. That familiarity likely played a role in his signing, as it often does for these depth players.

Ojemudia started 16 games for the Broncos, but never saw the field during the regular season for the Rams or Cardinals. His best season was as a rookie, when he posted 62 tackles, six passes defensed, and four forced fumbles in Denver.

He also had a “standout” 2025 season in the UFL, when he totaled 18 tackles, four passes defensed, and an interception for the Defenders.

Cowboys’ CB Depth Is in Trouble

Even before the injury to and subsequent waiving of Harmon, the Cowboys were hurting at cornerback. Trevon Diggs is the biggest name here — he’s working his way back from a knee cartilage injury that ended his 2024 season and required surgery. Now, while the team is pleased with his progress, he may not be ready to go Week 1.

Additionally, rookie third-round pick Shavon Revel is rehabbing from a knee injury of his own. Revel tore his ACL back in September at East Carolina, which is a big reason why he fell all the way to the third round. His upside is high as an über-athletic, long, playmaking corner. His future in Dallas is bright, but it’s unlikely he’ll be available to open the season. Caelen Carson is also currently out with an injury.

That leaves Da’Ron Bland as the only healthy starting cornerback in Dallas. Offseason trade acquisition Kaiir Elam will likely fill one of those spots in the meantime, though he was targeted often — and successfully — by opposing offenses when he was on the field for the Bills.

To earn a roster spot, Ojemudia will need to beat out some of the other reserves. Andrew Booth Jr. is the most notable name, a former second-round pick of the Vikings. But he’s had an up-and-down camp, opening the door for others. Israel Mukuamu, Zion Childress, C.J. Goodwin, and Troy Pride Jr. are the other camp bodies at corner. Ojemudia needs to beat out three of them at minimum, likely four or five, to make the final roster.
