Dak Prescott Sends Angry Message to Teammates After Lions Loss

The Dallas Cowboys came into Detroit looking to extend their winning streak and improve their once-slim playoff odds, but departed with a bitter loss that left quarterback Dak Prescott with some harsh words for his teammates.

The Detroit Lions won 44-30 in an offensive explosion, matching every blow from the Cowboys and drastically improving their own playoff hopes. The loss was especially difficult for Prescott, who let some of his frustration spill out after the game.

Lions Loss Stings Dak Prescott

Speaking to reporters after the loss, Prescott said he is angry — and implored his teammates to channel their own anger toward

“The guys are pissed off right now,” he said, via SI.com. “I don’t think this is any deflated moment like our hands are up, we’re done. No. Absolutely not. I hope you’re gonna get a team that’s pissed. I hope it pisses people off the right way and we use it as fuel.”

The loss dropped Dallas’ playoff odds to 9% in The Athletic’s NFL playoffs simulator, leaving them with a narrow path to returning to the postseason. They will likely need to win out and get some help, which would leave them at 10-6-1.

The Lions had a dire outlook heading into Thursday’s game, with last week’s Thanksgiving Day loss to the Green Bay Packers dropping their playoff odds down to 30%. Those odds rose to 45% after the win on Thursday, with their chances of winning the division still alive at 7%.

Jared Goff Shares Praise for Detroit’s Grit

With Thursday’s win, the Lions avoided back-to-back losses for the first time in more than three years. Lions quarterback Jared Goff said the streak is a sign of the team’s grit.

“Yeah, I think it is a kind of culmination of who we are. I don’t think that happens on accident,” Goff said, via SI.com. “I think it was what, 15 times now in a row that it’s happened? Yeah, I don’t think it happens on accident. It’s who we are, it’s what we believe in. I think when those losses happen, they suck, but we do as good a job as any team of learning from that and coming back the next week and putting our head down.”

Goff also praised Detroit’s fans for giving them a strong home-field advantage against the Cowboys.

“It was great. I thought our fans showed up,” he said. “It was awesome, it really was.”

He added that the Lions have taken motivation from their struggles this season, saying he hopes they can peak at the right time.

“We want to kind of be on this up ramp, by the time we hit the playoffs where we’re this dangerous team who can kind of go toe to toe with anybody,” he said. “That’s what you want and we’re right there. If we’re able to win one at a time, who knows what can happen. There’s plenty of games left, and we’re playing well. But – sorry, to answer your question, yes. It does uptick things a little bit and gives us a little bit more motivation.”
