Dan Lanning Makes His Thoughts On Oregon Future Clear

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning has been at the helm for four seasons and has turned the program into a national contender.

He became the head coach ahead of the 2022 season after coaching under Kirby Smart at Georgia for a few seasons. Lanning won 10 games in his first season before winning 25 combined games over his next two seasons as head coach.

Lanning is now off to a 5-0 start this season and has helped the Ducks climb to No. 3 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. He’s 40-6 as the Ducks head coach, but is still searching for that national championship win.

His name has been linked to other high-profile jobs during his tenure with the Ducks, but he recently told On3’s Chris Low that he’s not leaving.

“I’ve been very clear and adamant that I’m not going anywhere,” Lanning said. “A lot of coaches use that as an opportunity to say, ‘OK, I’m either going to get a big raise where I’m at,’ or maybe they really want that other job.”

“I don’t want any other jobs. I’ve got the job that I want.”

Lanning is fresh off a massive 30-24 overtime win over the Penn State Nittany Lions on September 27. The Ducks enjoyed their bye week last week and will be back in action at home this Saturday.

Another test awaits the Ducks this Saturday

It will be the battle of unbeatens when the seventh-ranked Indiana Hoosiers travel to Eugene to take on the Ducks. Both teams come into this game with identical 5-0 records and are top contenders to win the Big Ten and make the College Football Playoff.

During Lanning’s presser this week, he called this Saturday’s game an “unbelievable opportunity” for his team.

“Unbelievable opportunity sitting in front of us here with a top 10 matchup versus a really good team,” Lanning said during the presser. “You watch these guys on tape, they do a lot of things well.”

The Hoosiers are coached by Curt Cignetti, who is in his second year at the helm after coming over from the James Madison Dukes. He has a 16-2 record as the Hoosiers’ head coach and a 35-6 overall record over the last four years.

Kickoff for this star-studded matchup will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

Dante Moore moving up NFL Draft boards

Ducks quarterback Dante Moore has been one of the best quartyerbacks in the country this season and is the top quarterback in the 2026 class right now in ESPN’s Jordan Reid’s rankings.

Moore has been with the Ducks since 2024 and is off to a great start this season, throwing for 1,210 yards through the air, 14 touchdowns, and one interception.

He’ll need to keep playing at a high level if the Ducks want to beat the Hoosiers on Saturday.
