The Geordie had led the contest 5-2, before finding himself on the wrong end of a stunning comeback.

Upon being defeated, a visibly upset Rydz bit his shirt and punched his darts container as he exited the oche.

He then went on share a concerning message on social media.

As per Darts News, he wrote: “Bah it’s a lonely f***ing place but f*** me, when you lose, the s*** you get is not good for anyone.”

The darts star, who has had to put up with abuse from hideous trolls online, then continued: “Am just trying to make a living an not sure it’s worth bothering fighting for anymore…

“If you have my number and need me, text me. I won’t be on social media for a long time.”

Rydz shared a similarly concerning message in May 2023, following a 6-1 defeat to Kim Huybrechts at the Czech Darts Open.

On that occasion, the 2022 world championship quarter-finalist wrote: “I’m sorry for playing s***.

“You think I want to go up and play like that all the time?

“I’m struggling f***ing mentally and physically. I don’t know what to do anymore.

“Am sorry (to) everyone who even watched that.

“But telling me to f* off, call me a c*, and all that because I lost.

“I’m trying to make a living off this game, so I can retire (as) quick as I f***ing can.

“Again, I am sorry.”

At the time, the PDC confirmed to SunSport that they had reached out to Rydz to check on his mental wellbeing.

The Professional Darts Players Association also has a range of services behind-the-scenes that could help “The Riot” during difficult moments.

Several fans stuck up for Rydz on social media following his recent defeat to Hempel.

One wrote on X: “Feel bad for Callum Rydz.”

While a second said: “So many horrible negative comments about Callan Rydz.

“He’s a young man obviously struggling with the mental side of darts and maybe needs a bit of help.”

A third remarked: “[He] definitely needs a break.”

While another added: “Don’t hate on Rydz. Hope he recovers strong.”
