Davante Adams Draws Strong Reaction After Rams Make Historic Announcement

The Los Angeles Rams are reveling in the success of their decision to sign six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams.

Adams had another historic performance in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints.

He finished the contest with five receptions for 60 yards, helping the Rams improve to 6-2 on the season. Adams also drew lofty praise from Rams head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Matthew Stafford in the aftermath.

McVay and Stafford’s comments came amid the three-time First Team All-Pro, Adams, surpassing Barry Sanders and tying Lenny Moore and Tony Gonzalez with the 111th receiving touchdown of his career.

The Rams announced both feats on social media.

“In today’s game, WR Davante Adams tied Tony Gonzalez (111) for the 8th-most touchdown receptions all-time,” Los Angeles Rams PR posted on November 2.

Adams has 36 receptions for 491 yards and a league-leading 8 touchdowns this season. He is on track for the third-fewest receptions and yards of his career. He is also pacing toward the second-most TD grabs and has the second-highest yards per reception of his career.

Adams, who turns 33 in December, is 5 TD receptions away from tying Antonio Gates for seventh on the all-time list, and 10 from Larry Fitzgerald for sixth place.

The veteran has a 993-12,335-111 career line.

Adams’ ability to produce has only taken a back seat to teammate Puka Nacua, who boasts a 61-711-3 line through eight games this season despite missing one game and not finishing two others.

McVay showed appreciation white fielding a question about Adams’ accomplishment, praising the veteran for the consistency, among other things, that he brings to the team.

“What a credit to his just consistency, his body of work, his greatness, and he’s one of those guys, man. He made some big-time clutch catches in the red area. He’s obviously got five in the last two weeks, and he’s a stud. Love everything that he’s about. Love working with him. It truly is a blessing, and he’s brought so much to our group,” McVay told reporters after the game.

“We always talk about the truest measurement of performance is that consistency, and he’s been consistent over the course of his career, and he’s brought a lot to our football team. I love Davante Adams.”

Stafford was equally as effusive, calling Adams a “great player” and “unbelievable teammate.”

“He’s one of the all-time greats. It was unbelievable what he was able to do today,” Stafford said postgame.

“That’s so cool. It’s cool to be a part of it. You get to share the field with guys that have done it for a long time at a high level like him. So, just continue to work together, continue to play, and realize, ‘Hey, how can I be better? How can we be better,’ and go from there. And he was great today, and just happy for his success and what he brings to our team.”
