DeMarvion Overshown Gets Brutally Honest on Relationship with Micah Parsons

Through the first seven games of the 2025 campaign, the story surrounding the Dallas Cowboys has been their struggles on the defensive side of the ball. However, things could be trending in the right direction, as the Cowboys picked up a big win over the Washington Commanders in Week 7, and they have injured players like linebacker DeMarvion Overshown closing in on a return to the field.

Of course, it didn’t help that Dallas made a mind-boggling decision to trade superstar linebacker Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers right before the start of the new season. Unsurprisingly, there’s been a lot of discourse surrounding this trade, and with Parsons clearly not having much love for the Cowboys anymore, Overshown opened up on how the blockbuster deal has impacted his relationship with the Packers’ newest star.

DeMarvion Overshown Opens Up on Micah Parsons Relationship

All offseason long, Parsons made it clear he was looking for a new contract extension from the Cowboys, but it never ended up coming his way. With things at a standstill, Jerry Jones and Dallas’ front office decided to trade Parsons to Green Bay in exchange for first-round picks in 2026 and 2027 and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Shortly after this trade, Parsons promptly received a four-year, $188 million contract extension that the Cowboys weren’t willing to offer him. It was a shocking turn of events given how productive Parsons had been over the first four seasons of his NFL career, and he seems to have no love lost for his former team.

It’s a different story when it comes to his former teammates, though, according to Overshown. During his first two seasons in the league, Overshown became quite close with Parsons, and while things are obviously different now that they are no longer on the same team, the third-year linebacker revealed that his relationship with Parsons has never been stronger.

“Our relationship just got stronger,” Overshown said on “The Schultz Report.” “We still talk to this day. If he had it his way, trust me, he’d still be with us every day. I’m looking forward to seeing him later on this year.”

DeMarvion Overshown Closing in on Return to Action for Cowboys

In 13 games last season, Overshown formed a strong partnership with Parsons on defense. After he missed his entire rookie season with a torn ACL, though, Overshown tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL in early December, which forced him to undergo another lengthy rehab process. After practicing on Wednesday, though, it looks like Overshown is closing in on a return to action.

Getting Overshown back with Parsons playing for another team would be huge, and with the defense trending in the right direction, things are looking up for Dallas. It will be important for the team to keep up the positive momentum by going out and beating the Denver Broncos in Week 8, with kickoff for this clash scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
