With just a few games left before the NBA Playoffs, the Detroit Pistons received good news regarding their star guard, Cade Cunningham.
Just weeks after suffering a collapsed lung on the road against the Washington Wizards, Cunningham is set to make his return to the court. He will be suited up and playing against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, April 8.
Wednesday’s game marks the first set of action for Cunningham since the March 17 matchup. At the time, Cunningham had appeared in only five minutes of action.

When he went down, Cunningham was in the midst of his 61st game of the year. The star guard is shooting 46.1% from the field and 34.6% from three, producing 24.5 points per game. He is also averaging 9.9 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Once Pistons fans on Reddit heard about Cunningham’s pending status, they were understandably excited.
“Return of the Mack,” said medorian.
“HE is risen,” said randidigital.
“Hope it’s not too soon. We don’t need our guy rushing back for meaningless games,” uvgotnod added.
“Just protect him from himself please we need cade in the playoffs more than we need him now…” Sensitive_Cod_1954 wrote.
“The MotorCade is back!!!” Paul1708 added.
“Absolutely huge. He has three games to get back into in game shape. I’m assuming the first two games will be limited minutes and then full minutes vs the Pacers as his playoff dress rehearsal. Hopefully he’s warmed back up and back to 100% during the Pacers game,” Petzing_Elite_Oc_Det said.
Cade Cunningham Is Ramping Up For The NBA Playoffs

The Pistons aren’t playing for anything at this point.
When the Pistons defeated the Philadelphia 76ers on the road last Saturday, they officially locked up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
If Cunningham hadn’t suffered a setback, this would’ve been a week where allowing him to sit out frequently would make sense. Instead, the opposite makes more sense, all things considered.
Cunningham can use this time to shake off the rust. With the games being on the meaningless side, Cunningham can treat the final stretch as if it’s the preseason. He still might not be in the best basketball shape for Game 1 in the first round, but he’ll be better off if he can stay on the court for the next few outings.
