Cade, for all the amazing work he has done off the floor, is making headlines for other things, now. News was broken by Shams Charania on Monday morning that he could be signing a shoe deal with Nike. Cunningham is now the sixth active player in the league to have a signature sneaker with the company.
Any time you can get your name on the same list as LeBron James, whatever the category may be, you’re absolutely winning.
Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons Can Do No Wrong
There is quite literally not a single thing to nit-pick with Detroit Pistons basketball right now. They finally got back to the postseason a year ago.
They have a young core that makes a lot of other NBA teams jealous. Most importantly, they have a franchise player in Cade Cunningham, who seems to be revered by all in the city and on the roster.
Now, Cunningham joins an elite list of individuals at Nike to have a signature shoe. The news could not have a come at a better time, with the team in the midst of a nine-game winning streak.
There was a time, just a few short years ago, when the Pistons were 2-26. The team was struggling so much that the WingStop promotion they had for wins overwhelmed the stores when the squad finally won a game.
Cade himself was on the record saying the team wasn’t “2-26 bad”. Seeing how the team has rapidly improved under JB Bickerstaff in such a short time has been inspirational. Cunningham, being here and leading as the team wins is as special as it gets for the city.
The hot start in 2025-26 has happened in spite of serious injuries for the Pistons. Doing this off the heels of a competitive first-round series with the East runner-up New York Knicks also adds serious street cred. So as good as it it has been, it’s only going to get better.
Perfect Time for Cade Cunningham to Launch Signature Shoe
There is not going to be another time this regular season where Cade Cunningham has a stock this high. He is averaging career-highs in points, assists, and steals per game. The Motor City has been the place to be. The Detroit Pistons crowds have been coming back en mass.
They rank third in the league in attendance. Everybody’s been coming to the games. And as the wins pile up, so do the future prospects of playoff success.
Of course, as Cade’s shoe comes to the market now, a few questions will arise for the sneakerheads. Will they be high or low-tops? How many colorways will be available with the first sneaker? As a tall guard, will it help more with lift, or ankle support?
As of last year, Cunningham did have a logo, and it was a thing of beauty. This will look fantastic on his new sneakers.
Whatever the name of the first model of the Cade shoe is, one thing is for sure. It will sell like hotcakes. Cunningham is trending up. The Pistons have been rocking. Go get yours when it drops in spring of 2027.
