Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow Sends Clear Message With NLDS Gem

After missing last year’s World Series run, Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow was more than ready for his massive start in Game 4 against the Phillies.

The Southern California native lived out his lifelong dream Thursday night, pitching six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts to help send the Dodgers back to the NLCS.

“It means everything,” Glasnow said. “It’s been a dream of mine for a long time. It just feels incredible.”

As MLB.com noted, the performance came two years after he signed a five-year, $136.5 million contract with the team he grew up rooting for.

After spending most of last season sidelined with a sprained elbow that forced him to watch the Dodgers’ title run from the dugout, manager Dave Roberts said nobody deserved this moment more:

“He was a little on the outside looking in last year,” Roberts said. “All offseason, this was what he wanted, to contribute in October. And he delivered.”

Glasnow’s Incredible Game 4 Performance

Glasnow dominated the Phillies, using a mix of his fastball, curveball, slider, and sinker to draw 16 whiffs.

He tossed six shutout innings, striking out eight while allowing just two hits.. With the Dodgers offense stagnant throughout the game, it was Glasnow who kept them in control and gave them a chance to close out the series.

“It was his time today,” Roberts added. “He rose to the occasion and gave us a huge boost. This is something that’s going to propel him moving forward.”

This was the major win that Glasnow has been looking for since joining the Dodgers.

“I thought about it a lot of times,” he said. “I want to keep it going. I want to have a lot more memories. It’s an incredible feeling.”

Much like last year, Glasnow dealt with an injury setback during the regular season, missing most of May and June before returning in mid-July.

Despite the downtime, he still posted an impressive 3.19 ERA with 106 strikeouts across just 96 innings.

Glasnow Gives Dodgers’ Loaded Rotation Another Dangerous Weapon

Glasnow’s resurgence couldn’t come at a better time for Los Angeles.

His return adds yet another elite arm to an already stacked starting rotation that consists of Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Glasnow is the Dodgers fourth starting pitcher on their playoff roster, but he would probably be an ace on most teams across the MLB.

The Dodgers’ starting pitchers have a collective ERA of 2.17 in their past three turns through the rotation.

Glasnow will look to keep his momentum rolling as he does his part to help the Dodgers chase back-to-back World Series titles.
