Draymond Green Talked Trash With Elderly Nets Fan

The Golden State Warriors scored a competitive victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night, but Draymond Green’s biggest trash talk involved fans more than opposing players. Nets superfan Mr. Whammy is an 89-year-old who sits in the front row and is allowed by the team to stand behind the road team basket for free throw heckling.

Green ended up having a hilarious moment after getting surprised at Mr. Whammy getting that close behind the basket when he was at the line. The controversial Warriors star told the Nets fan to sit his “old a** down” and laughed while saying a few more words. Mr. Whammy didn’t back down and continued his heckling, but Green got the last laugh by hitting two free throws.

Other fan stories involving Green this season have seen him asking to get fans kicked out for more intense trash talk. This situation is a bit more comical since Draymond smiled and laughed while talking to Mr. Whammy. Both sides seemed to enjoy the moment, especially since the Nets fan does this to enhance the competitive scenario of a road team shooting free throws.

Draymond Green Comments On Mr. Whammy

Post-game questions saw Green getting asked more about the trash talking and what went into it. The former Defensive Player of the Year confirmed it was all fun and games. Green shared the following about Mr. Whammy:

“I told him to sit his old a** down somewhere, man. Can’t be distracting me on my free throws. That was fun. I had a lot of fun tonight.”

Golden State struggled early against a scrappy Brooklyn team that has started to overachieve and upset better teams. Anthony Edwards recently said the Minnesota Timberwolves deserved to get booed at home after the Nets upset them on the road.

Green was happy to see the Warriors fight back after the slow start and take control of the game. The fourth quarter showed Golden State was the better team while securing an important victory. Stephen Curry led the team in scoring with 27 points to back up Draymond’s trash talk.

Draymond Green Helping The Warriors Turnaround

Golden State fell further back in the Western Conference standings after Curry missed some time with an injury. Four wins over the last five games show that the Warriors are starting to build some momentum. Green’s strong defense and ability to hit open three-pointers has made the team a bigger threat.

Golden State must stay healthy to have any chance at contending for a title. The aging big three of Curry, Green and Jimmy Butler can’t miss much more time, or they’ll risk peaking in the play-in seeding. Many rumors are circulating about the Warriors hoping to add more talent at the trade deadline.

Jonathan Kuminga is the name most likely to get traded after Golden State head coach Steve Kerr has benched him again. Green discussing the fun he’s having on the court and his strong on-court results are huge boosts until the Warriors can find a way to improve the roster.
