It seems like every time there are questions swirling about Jalen Hurtsâ ability to be more than an efficient quarterback, it seems the game plan the next time out is almost to prove everyone wrong. The Philadelphia Eagles defense gave their offense the ball at mid-field stopping the Cowboys on downs on their first drive on the opening drive of the game and the Birds offense wasted no time in taking advantage of the short field. An offense that has become incredibly predictable and conservative, Philly came out slinging it. Hurts threw six times in seven plays and they only ran the ball once on their opening drive as Hurts was a near perfect â for 49 yards, resulting in a 16 yard touchdown toss to A.J. Brown, his third catch on three targets in the first seven plays.

The Birds scored on their next two posessions to take a 21-0 lead with over 11 minutes left in the 2nd quarter versus one of the worst defenses in the league. They didn’t score another point the rest of the way. Let me repeat that. They didn’t score another point while Dallas, slowly, clumsily, kept chipping away until the Boys’ Brandon Aubrey nailed a 37 yard field goal as time expired to put a bow on an epic Philadelphia collapse and hand them their third loss of the season, a 24-21 implosion to the much maligned Dallas Cowboys.
Flipped Script
In the first half the Cowboys did everything they could to hand the game to the Birds. Bad penalties, unforced turnovers, an interception in the end zone etc. In the second half the script was flipped.
The next five Eagles drives netted 42 yards. They were undisciplined, sloppy and disjointed in the second half. A dropped would-be interception by Zach Baun,14 penalties for 96 yards, and two fourth quarter turnovers led to the Birds’ demise, and many of the infractions nullified huge plays that would have most likely resulted in points for Philly.
No Pressure
They got little to no pressure on Dak Prescott and their defense gave up close to 500 yards, 473 if you’re keeping score at home. They sacked Prescott just once and pretty much let him sling it all over the field. The Boys overcame three more drops by Cee Dee Lamb, including a would-be touchdown late in regulation. Fortunately Dallas’ George Pickens had an off-the-hook game, hauling in 9 balls for 146 yards and a touchdown on nine targets.
Saquon Barkley finished with just 22 yards on 10 carries and lost a huge fourth quarter fumble.
The Birds will try to get back on track with a rare Black Friday game with the Pittsburgh Steelers in South Philly in just five days.
