Enzo Maresca has shared an update on Levi Colwill after the Chelsea star appeared to be in great pain after the 2-1 win at Leicester City on Saturday.

Goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez gave the Blues a deserved win at the King Power.

Jordan Ayew’s injury-time penalty gave the visitors a late scare but they held on to seal the three points and – temporarily at least – close the gap to Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League.

Chelsea had a number of injury concerns heading into the match including Pedro Neto and Malo Gusto who missed out because of a knock and illness.

Colwill, 21, was also a doubt going into the game after pulling out of the England squad but played 90 minutes against the Foxes, though there were concerning scenes at full-time.

As soon as the final whistle blew, the centre-back fell to the ground and was instantly seen to by the medical team and after lengthy treatment he was back on his feet.

Asked about Colwill in his post-match press conference, Maresca revealed the defender was struggling with illness but should be alright moving forward.

‘Exactly the same as Malo. He didn’t feel very well during the night and this morning,’ the manager said.

‘But he could play, finish the game, and hopefully it is nothing important.’

Maresca was however unable to share anything new on Reece James after the Chelsea captain suffered yet another hamstring injury during training last week.

The Italian added: ‘We didn’t have any update on Reece. We still have to wait for some day when he is going to do a scan again and we will see.

‘Malo was with us but during the night, he unfortunately did not feel well in terms of ill.

‘Pedro, he had a problem with his international team. There was a chance he could be with us but we didn’t take any risks for this game and hopefully he can be available for the next game.’

Chelsea are next in action on Thursday evening when they travel to German side FC Heidenheim in the Conference League, before hosting Aston Villa in the Premier League next Sunday.
