ESPN Analyst Blasts Jaxson Dart Decision: ‘Desperation Move’

ESPN analysts Jeff Saturday and Domonique Foxworth blasted the New York Giants decision to turn to rookie QB Jaxson Dart on Wednesday morning’s edition of “Get Up.” The Giants are off to a dismal 0-3 start to the season led by veteran Russell Wilson, and are now looking to their first round pick to take the helm for week four.

Saturday and Foxworth didn’t hold back when talking about the Giants, and more specifically Brian Daboll’s decision to turn to Dart this early in the season.

“When [Daboll] took the job, Daniel Jones was the quarterback, that’s your guy,” Saturday said on “Get Up.” “Okay so he wasn’t good enough, so we’re going to move on from him and then [Russell Wilson]’s not good enough so we’re going to move on from him so now it’s finally my guy. If you were the QB guru, we haven’t had much success to show for this.”

Daboll’s title as a “QB guru” comes from his time working as the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator, where he got credit for helping develop Josh Allen in his first few seasons.

Now in his fourth season with the Giants in his first head coach role, Daboll has just an 18-35-1 record, and is now on his third quarterback in his tenure in New York.

“It’s a desperation move, Daboll is trying to save his job,” Saturday said. “You’re just hoping that Jaxson Dart comes in and you win six games, but he plays well.”

Foxworth Slams Giants Organization

Seven-year NFL veteran and former NFLPA President Domonique Foxworth slammed the New York Giants organization for their mismanagement of the team in recent history.

“The history of this organization has been poorly run and it feels just reactionary all the time,” Foxworth said. “At one point, I’d love for them to bring in a staff and a coach and a quarterback and have a plan, it just feels like it’s always reaction to the worse thing that happened before.”

“I’m a bit concerned for Jaxson Dart being dropped into this tough situation, I don’t have great expectations for him and it’s not because of him as we watch Daniel Jones succeed with the Colts.”

Dart had a very strong preseason performance, completing 32-of-47 passes in his three games played while throwing three touchdowns and zero interceptions. He had an outstanding passer rating of 113.1 and threw for 372 yards.

Foxworth doesn’t seem to have faith that Dart can be successful in this current Giants offense however, citing the struggles they had with Daniel Jones, who has emerged as one of the best QB’s in the NFL to start the 2025 season in Indianapolis.

“It’s Always Someone Else’s Fault”

Saturday delivered the quote “It’s always someone else’s fault” during his rant on the lackluster Giants organization.

He has a point. Former Giants are succeeding across the league: Jones in Indianapolis, Saquon Barkley in Philadelphia, Evan Engram in Jacksonville and Denver. New York as an organization seems far too comfortable shifting the blame to individual players who leave and succeed elsewhere instead of addressing the disfunction within their own coaching staff and ownership.

Jaxson Dart will make his regular season NFL debut on Sunday afternoon when the Giants host the 3-0 Los Angeles Chargers.
